Say It Ain't So! 370Z Finally Breaks Cover

Japanese Performance Car News, 14.05.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

I wished upon a star, I hoped against hope that this wouldn't happen, but it seems that all the rumours were true: the new Z-car will feature those bizarre L-shaped headlights and those silly 'fangs' on its front bumper after all.

Several images of the 370Z have popped up on the internet, supposedly taken during a recent Nissan event. Although half of the car is in shadow, you can clearly see the new Maxima-esque headlight clusters, while those fangs can be seen jutting upwards from the lower lip of the bumper. Of course, it's nothing an aftermarket bumper can't fix, but it still seems to be a rather puzzling design choice.

The rest of the body should be familiar to all of you, however the other major difference that we can see is the reshaped C-Pillar, which now features a prominent 'kink' and now appears to be an integral part of the body, rather than part of the hatch as on the Z33 350Z. The bottom of the A-pillar is also slightly different from that of the Z33.

The 370Z is expected to debut at the Los Angeles motor show in November and will most likely feature the same 246kW VQ37VHR as the V36 Skyline 370GT. We get the feeling this may be one of those rare cars whose looks are improved by the addition of a car-bra.
