John Macartney, who’s undertaking a 10,500-mile crossing of the U.S. and Canada by Triumph Stag to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder, arrived at Hemmings World Headquarters in Bennington, Vermont, yesterday. Accompanying John, who’s third from left in this photo, were more than a dozen members of Brits of the Hudson, a multi-marque club based in New York’s Hudson Valley.
John’s effort is being supported by, so far, nearly 50 individual host clubs across the continent. To see his travel route, visit the TTACD website , which is updated pretty much daily.
The Stag, which John has nicknamed “uncle jack,” was purchased and restored with donations from U.S. Triumph enthusiasts. Now that we’ve looked at (and ridden in) the car, we can tell you that the volunteers of the Illinois Sports Owners Association who restored the car are a highly talented bunch.
After an overnight stay, John and the Stag headed out this morning, bound for Montreal. It was an absolute delight meeting him, and if you have an opportunity to catch up with him on his travels, you should by all means do so.
