So I took Friday off, which meant I couldn’t get to my regular cruise-in roundup until today. Mea culpa, I should’ve gone ahead and posted it anyway, because some awesome stuff showed up. F’rinstance, the all-original 1949 Packard Custom 8 in the above photo, which took home the Editor’s Choice award, and the brand-spanking new Corvette ZHZ , a Hertz-only rental Corvette that just became available.

And what of all that nonsense in the title to this post? To begin with, John deBruin, who showed up at our first cruise-in this summer with a DAF pickup , rolled in this time with his right-hand drive 1976 DAF 46, the same one we spotted up in Manchester last year.

Boogie van? Oh yeah. A pie to whoever can figure out what this one started life as. The owner didn’t appear to fill out his placard and I never saw anybody sitting with the van, so I can only guess.

The interior was fresh, however, and what surprised us more than the fact that our cruise-ins now attract vanners is the fact that vanners are still building modern custom vans.
Don’t hate on it. We know you love it.

Back to the small car invasion, this Morris is a regular at our events.

And who would have ever thought a 1991 Civic HF would someday not only become desirable but also collectible?

Of course, the price of gas hasn’t taken all the fun out of cruise-ins. I’m not sure if these Corvette owners intended such a lineup. If they did, they’re missing a C5.

Nor did the price of gas influence Bill Day’s decision to attend in his four-door 1965 Impala - from Lexington, Kentucky! He told his wife he was just headed out for a cruise. She asked where, and he told her Vermont. Hopefully by the time I’m retired, gas won’t be $78 a gallon.

A little more locally, Dan Rose of Stamford, Vermont, brought out what he called his Dan Rose Special, a car that resembled a Cobra Daytona kit car, but appeared wider and shorter than what’s on the market today. I never got a chance to corner Dan about it, though, so hopefully he shows up again and offers us a few more details.

And we’ll leave you with a couple action photos. Next cruise-in is the 26th, hope to see you there.
