1934 Ford Coupe with Twin-Turbo Big-Block Chevy

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Rich Feicheer wanted a unique hot rod he could drive everyday and put down great numbers at the drag strip. To accomplish this goal he turned to builder Ed Umland to transform his busted dirt raced 1934 Ford Coupe into something special. Ed spent a lot of time removing the decisions/mistakes made by previous owners.

The monster 598 cubic-inch big-block Chevy V8 is made from a Dart tall-deck block, Big Chief heads, Ferrea valves, Jesel roller rockers, dual 120 lb/hr Trick Flow injectors per cylinder, Callies forged crank, and JE pistons. Forced induction is delivered via two 88mm Comp turbos and Turbo Smart wastegates. All this is controlled through a FAST XFI system. The transmission was built by Jim Galatioto at ATO Transmission. It is a TH400 with billet-steel shafts, and aluminum drums.

Everyone’s definition of a “daily driver” is different. Rich’s definition is just on the outer threshold. In case you are wondering the best time at the quarter-mile was 8.3 seconds at 167 mph. That was accomplished with the boost turned all the way down.
