Lowrider shoes

Retro Scene Magazine, Mittwoch, 03 Dezember 2008   in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

We've mentioned before our love of shoes and our obvious love of all things lowrider, so we're always pleased when our interests collide.  With it coming up to Christmas we've come over all capitalist consumers and gone on the hunt for suitable footwear. First up we've got C1rca's range of Low Rider shoes.  Part of their al50 range you've got a choice of two, firstly black with lowrider details : http://www.hanger94.com/productinfo-item-4890_dc-64.htm Or...

Design Spotlight: Mk1 Cortina Rear Lights

Retro Scene Magazine, Sonntag, 30 November 2008   in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

It's the start of a new series here on RSM, we're setting the camera to close-up and taking a look at individual parts of the cars we love - celebrating those little touches that draw us enthusiasts in every time. First up we have...Mk1 Cortina Rear Lights: What was the designer thinking as he penned the back end of the iconic Mk1 Cortina? Why did he choose to put a circle into the vee shape he'd drawn? Did the lights come first? Was he drunk? We may never know, but whatever...

The dream of a barn find

Retro Scene Magazine, Mittwoch, 26 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

I doubt there is a car enthusiast that hasn't dreamed of stumbling across a barn, or a garage that has a car already in it, even a humble Austin Allegro would do for most people, but it is those real jackpot finds that cause the biggest stir. Hemmings.com blog has a great entry on a new barn find in New York It always amazes me that these collections sit either undiscovered or unrevealed for so long.  The images on this entry have come from that find.  Check the entry on Hemmings for...

Classic cars in Thailand

Retro Scene Magazine, Dienstag, 25 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

We're always on the lookout for worldwide scenes, pretty much any country that has cars in any kind of number will have a car scene of some sort.  For us it is even better if they have a classic car scene, so I was delighted to find out about one in Thailand. As far as we can tell so far the internet presence is centred around Bangkok Classic Car forum sadly we have no useful Thai translation software available to us, so we're attempting to muddle through with some words in...

RSM : Linklog 241108

Retro Scene Magazine, Montag, 24 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

So its time for another link log and we've got a diverse one for you today. Let’s start off with some home grown hot rodding with the Nervous Surgeons. There is lots to see here, with their current builds and a lot of their history on the site, it is a great insight into hot rod and custom building in the UK as it is lived as well as some great back story with the 'draggin up our past' sections. Now we head east for Gacyan Racing for some models.  Not only are there great...

That Ken Block gymkhana video more info.

Retro Scene Magazine, Donnerstag, 20 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

Okay so this isn't strictly retro, but it is intriguing how far and fast this has spread around the internet.  In case you've not seen it you can check it out now : Ken Block Gymkhana Practice from Ken_Block on Vimeo. What is so interesting about this is the way it has been filmed, we've seen many many highly skilled drivers put their videos on the net before, usually static in car or a handy cam film from outside.  The difference here is that this video has...

Goodguys Scottsdale, Arizona

Retro Scene Magazine, Mittwoch, 19 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

Some photos for you today, from an event bought to our attention by the My Ride Is Me website.  Having checked out this post I headed straight to their gallery to see what was what, and boy was I impressed with the cars. However here at Retro Scene Mag we're not happy with one set of photographs, so we went on the hunt for more from the same event.  Flickr came up with this set from Via Boy which is where the photos for this post came from. A bit more digging and we found a huge...

Guyana's classic racing cars.

Retro Scene Magazine, Dienstag, 18 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

I'll be honest with you, when I got sent a link about Guyana's racing scene I had to look it up on Wikipedia, I had literally no idea where it was, Africa maybe?  Caribbean Islands?  As it turns out it is mainland South America, just above Brazil. Really geography isn't our strong point, but cars are.  One of my very favourite things is to discover a countries car scene, or at least part of it and the possibility of finding more.  It almost doesn't matter if its new or old...

Bob Haro ,.. BMX vs. Car

Retro Scene Magazine, Montag, 17 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

We do enjoy the link between lifestyle and cars here, from that group of friends you always meet at shows, to the "lifestyle" additions you may make to your cars for practical of style reasons. As well as our previously documented unhealthy obsession with trainers, we've also got a thing for BMX', we're not the only ones, but things can go back the other way.  Bob Haro is a bit of a genius, BMX rider, entrepreneur and for us today artist.  Check out his Beetle on Centra wheels with...

Retro Scene Magazine, Dienstag, 11 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

Sorry about the break in service on Friday and yesterday, to make it up to you we have a link log for some very cool things that should keep you more than amused for a good few hours. First up we have one of the internet’s most precious things, an awesome forum thread.  This one comes from the Atlas F1 Bulletin Board, as I type this thread is 24 pages long and contains a shed load of images of club level British motorsport, this is the life’s blood of motorsport in the UK, sure...

Italspeed, a fantastic car collection

Retro Scene Magazine, Donnerstag, 06 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

I guess we all have that dream, where our garage is unlimited in size and we can afford to buy all those cars we want, from the great, significant cars to those unloved and forgotten ones.  Not many of us get to realise that dream, sometimes those that do only concentrate on those big money super cars and forget the lower level rides, so we tip our hats to people like Nick Mason, Jay Leno* and Italspeed for having such diverse collections. Jay Leno has a great website, Nick Mason has a...

Exhaust Champion Of The World

Retro Scene Magazine, Mittwoch, 05 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

We didn't intend for this week to be so dominated by Japanese cars, but when something demands your attention, sometimes you just have to share it. We have long been a fan of the crazy world of bosozoku, as well as being intrigued by the lengths people go to one-up each other on more 'normal' rides, so imagine our delight when we find a bosozoku who is going directly for the craziest exhausts ever.  This picture literally made our eyes pop out : The driver is dressed as a...

Retro Scene Mag Hits Flickr

Retro Scene Magazine, Montag, 03 November 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, retroscenemag.com

Finally the day has come where we've made our way onto Flickr.  We became aware that some of our features were taking a while to write and that people may enjoy our images in an unfiltered form, so we've got ourselves hooked up with a nice Flickr repository for our images. http://www.flickr.com/photos/retroscenemag/ First up in our Flickr sets are the photos from this weekend’s Sushi Sunday at Goodwood.  We have a feature detailing our experiences and picking out some...
