Top Secret V12 Supra Hits 358kph At Nardo

Japanese Performance Car News, Samstag, 12 April 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Japanese tuning house Top Secret recently took their V12-powered JZA80 Supra to Italy's Nardo high speed ring in an attempt to crack the 400kph barrier. Unfortunately, they missed the mark by 42kph, but the end result of 358kph is still nothing to be sneezed at.

What's even more impressive is that they accomplished this feat using an engine that had never before been used in a high performance application: the 5-litre 1GZ-FE V12 from Toyota's Century limousine. With twin turbos, a custom plenum and aftermarket management, Top Secret has managed to massage just under 1000hp from the 1GZ, all of which was fed through the Supra's Getrag 6-speed.

It isn't clear whether it was a lack of power or simply inadequate gearing that prevented the Supra from recording a higher top speed, but we get the feeling that Top Secret proprietor "Smokey" Nagata will be back for more soon. We tried to locate some video or images of the Supra on the test ring, but instead only found the below video of the V12 Supra at a more 'relaxed' pace on the Wangan.
