Rumours n' Renderings: 2010 Honda S2000

Will the next generation of Honda roadster debut in 2010? Will it also feature a (gasp) 260kW 3.5-litre V6 as well as a more traditional 286hp 2.4-litre inline-four under it's lengthy bonnet? Will Japanese car magazines never stop producing speculative renderings? According to the mag that published the above picture, the answer to all of the above is "yes".

Now all you Honda-philes out there just calm down a sec, for at this stage this is just another unsubstantiated rumour. Of course, the AP2 S2000 is getting a bit long in the tooth now and Honda have already rolled out the special-edition models

that traditionally mark the end of a model's lifespan so yes, a 2010 unveiling for a successor would certainly make sense. What doesn't quite make sense though is the 3.5-litre V6, which just seems a little too un-Honda-ish for a car that has traditionally been powered by high-revving four-pots.

I'm sure this is just the beginning of what will soon become a torrent of S2000 rumours, so take note: the above details are subject to change without notice.
