You Ain't Got Skillz Like This Guy...

Japanese Performance Car News, Dienstag, 01 Juli 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Think you can drift? Think again. Sure, your wimpy little one-wheel skids might impress the jailbait that lives near your local industrial estate, but if you REALLY want some big-time kudos, try doing it like Yoshi Shinya: without using your legs. You see, Yoshi's a paraplegic, so pedals are not an option for him. Yet thanks to some ingenious driving aids and a huge degree of manual dexterity, Yoshi still manages to pull off some pretty decent drifts in his JZX100 Toyota Cresta. Check out the...

Beneath The Camo: 2010 NSX Rendering

Japanese Performance Car News, Sonntag, 29 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

The GT-R is done and dusted and we've already pretty much ascertained what the LF-A is going to look like in production form. Now it's time for speculation to focus on the 2010 NSX, which was first glimpsed testing under some light camouflage just last week.Graphic artist 'Larson' is the man (woman?) behind this latest rendering, which uses the spy images taken of last week's prototype as it's basis. The end result, while purely speculative, is a definite step in the right direction and shows...

V8 For Z34? BC Says "You Betcha"

Japanese Performance Car News, Freitag, 27 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

As if creating their very own 370Z replica wasn't enough for the rumour-holics over at Best Car magazine, they're now spreading word that Nissan may introduce a flagship V8 model to the Z34 lineup. Shinjiro Yukawa, the Chief of Production for the Z34 project, told Best Car that a V8 model could appear as a special edition and may also feature a retro "G-Nose" much like that fitted to the 370Z's great grand-daddy, the 240ZG. A V8 isn't beyond the realms of possibility either. Top Secret...

Best Car Gets Impatient, Builds Own Z34 370Z

Japanese Performance Car News, Freitag, 27 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Boy, the lads over at Best Car sure are an impatient bunch, aren't they? Known for their love of pumping out highly detailed speculative renderings of yet-to-be-released automobiles, BC have gone a step further in the case of the upcoming Z34 370Z by commissioning Shizuoka customisers Mad House to build them their very own replica. Using a Z33, a couple of teaser photos and a shitload of fibreglass, Mad House managed to do a pretty decent job of replicating the 370Z's controversial lines. Of...

NSX Prototype Caught On Camera... Again

Japanese Performance Car News, Mittwoch, 25 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Following on from last Sunday's NSX prototype video, here's another 'Ringside look at Honda's imminent supercar. While it doesn't quite possess the banshee wail of the LF-A's V10, the NSX's motor still has a fair-sized roar to it. It also appears to move just as rapidly as the Lexus and if rumours of a 7:37 Nordschliefe laptime are to be believed it should provide more than enough competition when it drops sometime in 2010. Educational car manga?

Japanese Performance Car News, Mittwoch, 25 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Okay all you manga fiends, have you gotten bored of Initial D? Finished off Wangan Midnight in one sitting? Shakotan Boogie a little too strange for your tastes? Well, you might like to feast your eyes on Project X: Datsun Fairlady Z instead.Project X: Datsun Fairlady Z is probably Japan's first (and only) non-fiction car-related manga and it tells the tale of the Datsun 240Z, the car that almost single-handedly reshaped the world's perception of Japanese sports cars. Amazingly, Amazon appear...

Rumour: NSX Prototype Runs 'Ring In 7:37 + Video

Japanese Performance Car News, Sonntag, 22 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

It seems that Honda's heading down the right track with their new NSX. Trackside obervers have reported that the camouflaged NSX test mule spotted earlier this week has posted a fastest lap of 7 minutes 37 seconds. Not only that, but the inevitable video of the prototype doing its thing has finally surfaced. Check it out after the jump. While it may not equal the 7:29 lap recently posted by the R35 GT-R, 7:37 is still mighty impressive for a pre-production prototype. Remember that this...

Japanese Performance Car News, Freitag, 20 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Word on the wire is that Nissan's prestige division Infiniti is gearing up to launch a compact coupe of their own, giving the Japanese manufacturer a short-wheelbase competitor to the SLK and Z4 Coupe of their main rivals, Mercedes Benz and BMW.According to Inside Line Infiniti will be basing the compact coupe off a modified version of the upcoming 370Z's FM platform (which also underpins the compact coupe's big sister, the G37 Coupe), with key component sharing between it and Nissan's...

Mongrel Madness!

Japanese Performance Car News, Freitag, 20 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

How's this for an unusual engine swap. It seems the owner of this WRX got sick of hearing that distinctive boxer burble coming from his tailpipe and decided to trade in that sound for the bizarre blatting of a rotary. The motor used was a 13B-REW from an FD RX-7 and it seems to fit in the Subie's engine bay quite nicely - unsurprising, considering the 13B's extremely short length. The sharp-eyed among you will have no doubt noticed the rotary is mounted quite close to the front of the bay -...

V8 Powered Nissan S-Cargo Can Be Yours Today!

Japanese Performance Car News, Donnerstag, 19 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Remember that VH41DE powered Nissan S-Cargo we featured waaay back in August '07? Well, it's now up for sale in New Zealand, giving eccentric import car fans a rare chance to score themselves one powerful (yet eminently practical) short-wheelbase van.I always let out a little chuckle whenever I hear about this car, and it's good to see that it's survived all of the tyre-shredding abuse that's been dealt to it since the conversion was completed three years ago. The current owner felt that the...

2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe To Get AWD, "Mini GT-R" Comparisons Begin

Japanese Performance Car News, Donnerstag, 19 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

In news that is sure to delight cashed-up American J-car fans, the Infinti G37 Coupe will be available with an AWD drivetrain from later this year.Does that make it the poor man's GT-R? Well they're both AWD sports coupes, but they're worlds apart on a mechanical level so, no. That won't stop people from calling it that, but with the lack of a manual transmission option it probably won't see much service in the hands of hard core enthusiasts. What should be of interest however is the fact that...

Camo'd 2010 Acura NSX Spotted

Japanese Performance Car News, Donnerstag, 19 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Last seen running around the 'Ring under the mutilated body of a hacked-up S2000, Honda's next-gen NSX has finally been spotted undergoing testing in its own clothing. There's still some heavy camouflage getting the way, but at least now we can scope the vague shape that the new NSX (which will be badged as an Acura worldwide) will take. You can see that a few design cues from the Honda's Advanced Sport Car Concept have carried through to the NSX's sheetmetal - like those beltline creases -...

Reviewed: Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

Japanese Performance Car News, Dienstag, 17 Juni 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Inside Line have published an excellent review of Mitsubishi's WRX-fighter, the Lancer Ralliart. It's quite a glowing assessment of the baby Evo, but they also uncover some interesting facts about the Ralliart that set it aside from it's more hardcore big sister, like the absence of aluminium suspension links and rear chassis bracing. It's no deal breaker though, especially considering the Ralliart's 2-litre 4B11 engine is but a turbocharger and an ECU swap away from Evo-spec. It's a decent...
