I ran across this old post and thought it was crazy enough to write about it. This Toyota MR2 has two GE T58 turboshafts. There seems to be a few things mixed up on this article. The writer says these are jet turbines but if they really are T58s then these are actually helicopter turboshafts. I also have no idea how this builder could get both of those to turn one shaft without totally ripping the thing in half. Each of these produce around 1,400 HP and you can do the simple math that two of...
Originally swapped with some bowtie power this 240Z already had some serious pull. But Robbie Ward’s 240Z was going to have the engine switched from a Chevy engine to a Nissan engine. Robbie got himself a RB30 block and mated it to a RB26 head. That added to a couple of HKS turbos and this car puts out around 1100 HP which is enough power to drag the the 1/4 mile in 8.71 seconds setting a new record. One of the greatest parts of this car is that fact he regularly drives it around on the...
While doing a little bit of searching I came across an old Jalopnik post about Bader Racing putting a Porsche 993 engine in a VW Karmann Ghia. The engine has a few upgrades giving the car around 321 hp. The body is stiffened a little bit to handle the extra hp by adding a rollcage. Jalopnik says the swap costs $260,000 and takes around 18 months. I can’t find if they still do the swap but will expect the price in dollars has increased since the article was first published.

Talk about a cram job. Fitting anything of decent HP into a Miata and you are in for some work but having a V12 layout and you are going to really have some work. It appears the firewall and hood was cut to make for engine clearance and to stick the weight more in the center of the car.

At this years YearOne Experience, Air Ride Technologies showed off their 1968 Velocity Camaro. The name is based off the paint which is Hot Hues Velocity Orange with bare metal stripes. The engine is a World Products Warhawk 427 LS engine putting out 614hp. It also comes with a complete Air Ride Street Challenge Suspension. The gears were being shifted using a Twist Machine electronic paddle shifter hooked up to a Bowler Transmissions 4L65e. The wheels are from CCW with a 18×8 in front and...
Autofiends posted an quick post about a VW Vanagon that the writer believes was a 911 Porsche engine swap.
After doing some research I was able to find MSDS, a company that specifically sells kits to swap a 3.2L Porsche 911 engine into a VW Vanagon.
I also found a nice website that lists a lot of Vanagons engine swaps and it also lists some companies that sell kits at the bottom.

Titan Motorsports is known for their import drag cars. They work on all kinds of imports but have a lot of focus on Toyota models. Some examples of their incredible fast imports is a Supra that has done a 7.94 @ 181 mph, a Toyota Celica doing a 6.47 @ 217 and even a Scion tC has done a 6.488 @ 218.48 which won it the Sport Compact Championship for the third time in a row. So they know their way around a Toyota engine.
Titan recently published their progress on their Plymouth Prowler project...
Looking at this car it is hard to tell it is a 1987 Pontiac Fiero. The Fiero has been a popular car to swap in more muscle since the original just didn’t really have enough. The engine in this Fiero is a 4.9L V8 from a 1992 Cadillac DeVille. It is disappointing the 4.9L DeVille engine could only put out 200 hp stock. The LD8 or the L37 Northstar V8 from the 1993-2005 DeVille would have packed a way bigger punch for roughly the same size. Either way it is still an improvement and I am...
I did some searching and wasn’t able to find anymore information then I found in the Hemmings and Jalopnik articles. It is a Chevy Rat Rod with mostly 1939 parts with a 2.8L V6 from a Pontiac Fiero and the owner is LuckyFast Eddie of Camden, Delaware. If anyone knows anything more on this please comment.
Britishv8.org has published an article about a 1954 Austin-Healey owned by Martin Jansen with a Jaguar V8 swap. The car has a 5.3L Jaguar V12 engine which is balanced and blueprinted. No reason to keep it naturally aspirated so a Vortec V2 supercharger was added. The power is handled by a Tremec 3550 TKO 5 speed transmission and Ford 9″ differential. The suspension was kept pretty much stock except for minor modifications to help with the drive system. For more details please check the...
HST International teamed up with Tjaarda Design to produce a Mustang that runs on pure electricity. The cars use a custom built DC Electric Motor System producing roughly 300 HP and 1000 ft/lbs of torque. One of the great benefits of electric motors is their torque which usually is ready at 0 rpm. The massive torque allows the car to do 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
The battery system is made by K2 Energy Solutions and uses lithium iron phosphate batteries. To keep a great weight balance the...
