Colin Masterson’s S12

 Swap1, Freitag, 29 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

Colin Masterson knows his way around a S12, which is why he is a co-admin at Club S12 forum. But he is better known for his very unique S12. Colin bought the car in 2004 but didn’t really start to modify it until 2005. That year he swapped out the original interior for a black one, swapped a better condition factory VG30E, and had the body cleaned up and painted. In 2006 Colin decided to begin turning his car into something very rare, a RB20DET powered S12. Up until that point it had...

Cars and Coffee - Irvine California Meetup

 Swap1, Montag, 25 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

One of our readers gave us a heads up on the most recent Cars and Coffee meetup which was posted in the NAGTROC forum. A large diversity of great cars showed up ranging from Porsches to muscle cars to a new GT-R. This purple Datsun 510 stood out in particular because you don’t see too many of these and second it has a swap. It appears to have a very clean SR20DET swap with probably some upgrades such as the Brembo brakes. Check out all the rest of high quality photos over at...

Porsche 911 with Some Bowtie in the Trunk

 Swap1, Donnerstag, 21 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

Talk about a tight fit. This Porsche 911 has a supercharge LS1 V8 stuffed in the back replacing the original flat 6. One might think that the V8 would be heavier but thanks to a lot of aluminum the LS1 is lighter then the original engine the driver shaved off around 21 pounds total. No official notes of the horsepower it is putting out but it has to be 400 or more. The owner also stuffed a LS1 in the back of a Porsche 914. Source: Toy Jet via Full Throttle V6 via Fquick

Batman’s Tumbler Runs Off Detroit Power

 Swap1, Sonntag, 17 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

It seems with all the sophisticated technology Lucius Fox had at his fingertips he still decided to use dependable American small block to power Bruce Wayne’s Tumbler. The movie required the vehicle to all the stunts so it had to do a 0-60 in 5 seconds, be able to do 100 mph, and light enough to be able to do 30 foot jumps. Because the car uses a tube chassis and carbon fiber panels it weights 5,000 pounds. All I could find was that the engine is a 5.7L small blocked. Doing some simple...

Fiero with Lamborghini Body and GM Heart

 Swap1, Freitag, 08 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

A steel fabricator with a ton of talent and an appreciation for the Lamborghini Reventon decided why not build a replica using nothing but American parts. My jaw dropped when I first saw this thing. The builder did a great job on the body. It started when the owner got a Fiero for $60. He purchased the car before he knew what to do with it. But soon after seeing the Lamborghini Revention he knew what the Fiero was going to turn into. The engine is a 350 SB Chevy hooked to twin turbos. Other...

First Tesla Crash = First Electric Supercar Motor Swap?

 Swap1, Mittwoch, 06 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

It was bound to happen but honestly I did not think it would happen this soon. Just as the first Veyron crash owner learned the very expensive way, people will always have accidents and some have it in supercars. The big question is will the owner get this fixed? I would think they will fork over the money for the repairs since these are such status symbols in California. I have no idea where the body panels will come from since Tesla Motors is backed up as it stands now trying to fulfill...

Ford GT Mid-Engine Mustang Fastback

 Swap1, Dienstag, 05 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

Time Machines is working on a Mustang Fastback which will include a swapped Ford GT engine. Mike Staveski, the owner of Time Machines, recently posted some new pictures on Pro-Touring.com of the parts going on the project. I was holding back posting on this project as it seemed to be moving slowly but with the Ford GT engine and transmission arriving I would think we would see some good updates coming. I can’t wait to see more updates.

Pontiac SS with Porsche Engine

 Swap1, Freitag, 01 August 2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, engineswapdepot.com

This is a 2003 Pontiac IMSA Fiero that was built off a prototype IMSA body. The owner was able to find this treasure off eBay of all places. Talk about a find. The owner has since has dropped in a 427 c.i. small block which at 13.9:1 compression is putting down around 645 HP and 577 of torque. The transmission that he choose to hook up to the motor is a 1986 Porsche 930 4 speed transmission. He hasn’t been able to test the car out yet but the estimates are a 1/4 mile in 10.5 seconds at...
