SIA Flashback - Conspicuous Consumption and Earl Automobile Works

Fatty Arbuckle and his Pierce-Arrow

Inspired by the post from the other day about Fatty Arbuckle’s $25,000 Pierce-Arrow, I went digging in the Special Interest Autos back issues and found a pair of relevant articles. The first, from SIA #115, February 1990, answered my burning question: The P-A did not really have a toilet, though it was a popular rumor. The second, from SIA #167, September/October 1998, part of the Coachbuilders series of articles, discussed Earl Automobile Works and Don Lee Coach and Body Works, the coachbuilder that finished Arbuckle’s Pierce-Arrow.
