Working on a story for this week’s email newsletter , I needed a generic illustration of a Gendarmerie Nationale, the police arm of the French defense forces. Found some at the Groupement de Gendarmerie of the Départementale de la Somme that made me think they may be having more fun they’re letting on.
The ones they’re really proud of are their Alpine-Renaults. There’s an A110 in period photographs, and an A610 that it appears they still have. I’ve seen some over-the-top interceptors, but these are unreal.

Different wheels, different plates on both the A110 and A610. Think they had a fleet?

I’m guessing Moto Guzzi for the bike?

They even did car-to-car action.

There were also an assortment of Citroëns, with a 12, CX13 and DS14.

I don’t know what this Peugeot is, but their posture and smirks say it’s a hot ride.

Subarus are in fleet use worldwide, and we’ve seen more than a few WRXs in cop livery. Laugh at the frog eyes now.

I have no clue here, but the steel wheels and white steering wheel are CHP all the way.
