Remember this strange ride that John blogged awhile back? The 1959 Opel that took the world record in 1973 for getting 376 mpg out of a regular pushrod four-banger with only mild modifications? It lived at the Talladega Motorsports Hall of Fame for many years, then fell into the hands of Seattle-area car dealer Evan McMullen. Well, McMullen now figures he'll make a killing on it after buying it from Talladega for cheap, so off to eBay it goes. The Buy It Now price?...

After taking a look at this thing, I don't think I'll ever complain about speed bumps—even really burly ones—ever again. Seriously, is this concrete snake run thing insane or what? If I was faced with something like this, I know I'd probably slow to a crawl. I bet the local body shop is stoked about this baby. Check out another pic after the jump.

In the mold of the Jolly, Fiat has come out with an updated version of its whimsical early-60's beach runabout. Back in the day, the limited-production Jolly was generally targeted at anyone who could afford their own private islands—the professionally leisured, the only folks who might consider buying a whole separate vehicle just for scooting around the beach. The modern concept, which Fiat is calling the Portofino, will presumably hit a wider audience, and...

Aston Martin is preparing the launch of a multimillion dollar vehicle limited to only 77 units world wide. This car is under wraps, but my friend and master photoshopper Jon Sibal has designed his vision of how he feels the car will look. This is an early release of the 7.0 liter V12, carbon fiber bodied One-77. Hi-res photo, click for full size.

After this Ford leaps off the dyno, the assembled crowd totally starts cheering. Am I the only one that thinks this situation is a little scary? I mean, think of what could've happened if it had kept going. Yikes.

I've been living in my renters' paradse for some time now and thought that it was time to ditch the hand-me-downs and the yard-sale treasures and find some decor that says "I love cars" but that still has some class to it. While it's cool to have a race tire and a piece of glass as your coffee table, it's not exactly sophisticated.
I deperately need a new bed and while searching I stumbled on the perfect one. Over at Jake's Chop Shop I found one made from a...

Ok, so I decided to mix things up a bit this week. These cars are priced pretty close (the Honda is just over $21k, the Dodge just under $22k). They have a similar horsepower to weight ratios (the Civic weighs 2882 pounds and its 2 liter four banger packs 197 hp, while the Challenger is a porkier 3819 pounds and its 3.5 liter V6 delivers 250hp). Both have semi-useful back seats. The Challenger SE is only available with an automatic, while the Civic Si Coupe comes...

The AC Propulsion eBox won the award for the greenest track car at the Ultimate Track Car Challenge back in June. Josh kindly gave us this little demonstration while we were out at Buttonwillow.

There were a ton of sick rides on hand at Nightshift Chicago. One my personal favorites was this single-seat Pontiac Solstice. Now, I can't remember if I saw this car at SEMA last year—or whether I'm confusing it with a similarly treated Yaris—but I'll definitely be looking for it in Vegas come November. Even though it's less practical than a motorcycle, I just love this thing! Head over to the events section to check out all the other pics from the show!

Ever heard of a Great Wall Coolbear? That's their weird and delightfully Engrish name for a fake Scion xB from China. And the Dongfeng EQ2050, below, is proabably about as burly as a toilet-paper roll. MonsterAuto has published a rundown of the six most hilarious Chinese bootlegs, along with a video explaining how the cheap imitations pose a real threat to the automotive marketplace (don't miss the video of the Chery crash test, during which "the dummy became so...

RJ De Vera and the guys at MotorworldHype are building the third SEMA-bound Lexus IS F to be featured on CarDomain. For wheels they selected Volk TE37s (the shot below is just a teaser--the final wheels will look a bit different from the one in the pic). Then they took the car to Street Concepts, who wasted no time in pulling the interior apart. Be sure to check out their ride page for more pics and details, and stay tuned to the blog for future updates.

When I was in New York in March, the new CTS-V was one of my favorite cars. Seriously, what's not to love about a sport-tuned, 550 horsepower Caddy with a six speed? The brand new Cadillac has already taken a blistering lap around the 'Ring, and now it's proven that it can best both BMW's M5 and Mercedes' AMG E63 in acceleration, braking, and handling. Check out the full review over at Inside Line.
