Sunbeam Tiger I With Series II V8

Hans Abrahams shows off his amazing 1966 Sunbeam Tiger Mark I-A in the video below. The Sunbeam Tiger was conceived in the early 1960′s by the British car manufacturer Rootes. They were producing a small two-seater called the Sunbeam Alpine but realized they needed more power to really sell the car on the world stage. Rootes originally tried to get Ferrari to build them a powerful inline-four cylinder engine but when negotiations fell apart F1 champion Jack Brabham suggested a Ford V8 be used. Flashes of the Cobra success flew though their head so they got Carroll Shelby on board to design the V8 powered Sunbeam. There were two Tiger models, a Series I with a 260ci (4.3L) Ford V8 and a Series II with a 289ci (4.7L) Ford V8. What makes Hans’ Sunbeam Tiger double special is his Series I has the 289ci from the Series II.
