From Brenda Lee:

“On an unseasonably warm night in February, on a lonely stretch of road just outside the city limits of Boomtown Nevada a young beautiful cabaret singer named Marcella Armenta sits waiting on her suitcase, ‘61 Caddy broken down on her way to perform a Valentine’s Show at the Flamingo in Vegas, on the side of the road on a long dusty highway awaiting her tow.

To her rescue came a young handsome mechanic dressed head to tow in dirty wife beater, Levi’s and axel grease, it was lust at first sight. It was much more than passion that drove those two lust struck kids all the way to Sin City while Brenda Lee’s 1960 hit “I’m Sorry” poured like molassass from the crackling speakers of the old AM radio in that even older 50’s Chevy truck.

No one ever did find out what became of that young mechanic but just before Thanksgiving, Lil Miss Brenda Lee (yes named after the same singer from that very same evening) was born into a legacy of fleeting stardom in the San Francisco Bay area of California. Brought up on the road traveling from town to town in a brand new Lincoln Continental, Lil’ Miss Brenda played dress up with her dolls backstage while Momma sang for their dinner up front. But the road was no place to raise a future Pinup Princess

Settling down and raised up in ol’ San Fran where she grew up excelling in the three R’s: Rockabilly, Red Lipstick & Hot Rods, Brenda Lee split her summers traveling with her Momma on tour and spending time in Phoenix, AZ with her Tia. That was the moment that would speed her life into the fastlane to adulthood when she fell in with the baddest cholla on the East Side, Miss Lola Spade.

Together these two “Lady Spades” would come of age breakin hearts and telling lies, which is all they knew. Between their victory rolls & pencil skirts they spent their time raisin’ cain between Cali and Phx in Brenda Lee’s old ‘47 Packard hoping to one day break down on a lonely stretch of dusty Highway outside the city limits somewhere around Boomtown. “
