Well, it seems that the JDM-only S2000 Type S was the spitting image of the S2000 CR not only on the surface, but beneath it too.
Honda have recently updated their "New S2000" page to include some actual details on what sets the Type S apart from a regular S2000 (aside from that monstrous prominent wing, of course), and it transpires that pretty much the exact same modifications that were applied to the North America-only S2000 CR have also been performed on the Type S, which essentially makes the Type S a right-hand-drive CR.
According to Honda, the Type S benefits from revised spring and damper rates, while both anti-roll bars are thicker to aid cornering ability. The aero kit is also said to reduce lift, while lowering the coefficient of drag. This is the same treatment that was given to the CR, although we suspect that the actual suspension specs will differ to cater for Japan's glass-smooth urban roads. The only other real difference that we can detect is the presence of a retractable soft top on the Type S, whereas this was deleted entirely on the CR and an aluminium hardtop offered instead.
