Rumours n' Renderings: 2011 Silvia & 2010 March Turbo

Japanese Performance Car News, 27.08.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Niss_Silvia-March_render_02 Nissans highly anticipated low-cost FR sports car (let's call it a Silvia, for old time's sake) has been the topic of much speculation since it was announced that it would be hitting Nissan showrooms sometime early next decade. There's been countless renderings, a leaked Nissan image that's supposedly of the real deal and rumours that it could feature a hybrid/electric or even a fully electric drivetrain.

Today's update isn't really all that groundbreaking as it's just another artist's impression of what the next-gen Silvia could look like, but at least it gives us something to ponder over until Nissan releases some real meaty info on the car.

Niss_Silvia-March_render_01I'm not a huge fan of this particular Silvia rendering, but what I AM interested in is that blue thing next to it. It's supposedly an upcoming sports version of the Nissan March (Micra, to all you non-JDMers), and it's rumoured that there's a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine lurking beneath that bonnet scoop.

It looks like Nissan could be resurrecting the March Turbo nameplate in the near future, which is pretty cool in my opinion as small, turbocharged hatches are usually more fun than a barrel of monkeys. What would be even cooler though, would be if they were to resurrect the March Superturbo badge and twin-charge that 1.6 for the ultimate in forced-induction goodness. One can only hope.
