Rumours n' Renderings: 2010 NSX

Japanese Performance Car News, 16.07.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

NSX fever is fast approaching, and Japanese mag Holiday Auto have begun sneezing into the incubator to help it spread. According to HA, the 2010 Acura NSX will definitely feature a dry-sumped, 90-degree V10 with a 5.5-litre displacement and a power rating of 441kW.

Torque will be a very handy 588Nm, which should be more than enough to get the NSX's anticipated 1500kg moving. Interestingly, HA also say the NSX will feature a sports-tuned and RWD-biased version of the Legend's SH-AWD system, however previous rumours have suggested the NSX will be RWD-only. Who's right? Nobody knows as yet, so it seems we'll need to wait until the NSX's launche next year to find out.

Honda are also keen to dispel the myth that all sportscars require their own small Middle-Eastern kingdom to keep them full of fuel, and will apparently be applying their Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system to the NSX's V10 to keep the supercar green when cruising.

One rumour that's a bit new to us is the suggestion that Honda will also be shoehorning a version of the NSX's V10 into the Legend/Acura RL in the near future. Are Holiday Auto getting a bit ahead of themselves, or are they on the money? Super-sedans sure do tickle my fancy, so I certainly hope they're right with this rumour, but unfortunately that's all this is at the moment - a rumour - so don't get your hopes up just yet. Wait and see, folks. Wait and see.
