The official pics all confirm our suspicions: that Nissan were going to apply the Maxima's arrowhead-esque headlight treatment
to the Z, and that the front air dam would feature a pair of slightly awkward upturned "fangs".
It's safe to say that these two design features are bound to polarise opinion about the new Z, which is a pity as the rest of the package is simply brilliant to behold. For starters, there's those wider-than-wide fenders, that 240Z-style rear quarter window and a sumptuously contoured bonnet, and the interior is definitely a cut above that of the current Z33 350Z too.
There are still some areas that will take some getting used to (the hatch shutline, for starters), however Nissan have clearly delivered a design that's bound to get people talking about the new Z.
What'll also get tongues wagging is the mechanical package that's likely to feature beneath those contentiously-styled panels. Much of the driveline, powertrain and suspension is expected to come straight out of the V36 Skyline 370GT/Infiniti G37 Coupe, meaning the 370Z will get the same 245kW VQ37VHR 3.7-litre V6, sophisticated double-wishbone/multilink suspension system and six-speed manual, with a seven-speed paddle-shifted automatic potentially an option.
More details and photos will be released closer to the 370Z's debut at the LA auto show at the start of next month, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out these few bonus pics of the 370Z cruising around in digital form in the latest Need For Speed franchise.
