Blown a hole in the side of your WRX's/Forester's/Legacy's engine block recently? Don't bother with replacing it with any ol' Subaru motor, instead save up a bit of coin and splurge on a brand-new, JUN-built EJ short block!
You can have your block in one of two flavours: Basic, or EX. As the name implies, Basic covers just a fairly standard rebuilt block, with JUN pistons being the only non-Subaru part used in the assembly. EX, on the other hand, raises the bar by a whole lot, with JUN throwing in a variety of their forged and billet steel engine parts into the crankcase, as well as giving the cylinders themselves a slight bore. Thanks to a 4mm longer stroke, the EX-spec EJ20 short block also includes a displacement increase to 2.2-litres, which should give JDM-spec STI owners a tad more grunt to get their AWD pocket-rockets moving.
At ¥441,000 for the Basic assembly and ¥756,000 for the EX, these blocks don't come cheap. However, JUN's engine-building expertise comes at a price, and when you factor in the quality of the assembly and JUN's reputation for bulletproof high-performance engines, the cost starts to look a little more reasonable.
