While leafing though some photos of last January's HKS 35th birthday bash, I stumbled upon this pearler of an engine/body/driven wheels conversion.
What you're looking at is a BMC Mini, although given those massive fender additions I'd forgive you if you couldn't tell. In fact, if MG/Rover had decided to field a JGTC team back in the '90s, their entrant probably would have looked something like this. It's low, it's wide, and it looks dangerous, however the coolest thing about it happens to be beneath the skin...
Yep, that's a Honda B18C you're looking at, and mounted right behind the driver's shoulderblades too. Sir Alec Issignonis won worldwide acclaim for the incredible handling he managed to engineer into the FWD Mini, but we wonder what he'd think of this mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive monster. Happy, or horrified? Whatever the case, we reckon this thing is badass. Let's take a closer look.
It's a spotless conversion. You can just see the linkages for the F1-style pushrod suspension at the left of the frame. No rubber cones here.
A perfect example of a well-presented all-motor B18C. This one uses a variety of HKS parts all overseen by an HKS F-Con V Pro. The Honda theme carries over to the brakes, which use Spoon components on the rear axle. Wheels are Buddy Club P1s.
