2009 Lancer Ralliart and Ralliart Sportback Now On Sale in Australia

Japanese Performance Car News, 25.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Mitsubishi Australia has formally announced that the turbocharged, AWD "Baby Evo" is now available from dealerships nationwide. We already told you about the Ralliart's mechanical specs before, so we won't repeat ourselves here. What we will say, however, is that for just $42,490 for either sedan or Sportback the Lancer Ralliart makes a solid case for itself as a mid-range sportscar with loads of potential. Sure, it might be a couple of G's pricier than its nemesis the Subaru WRX, but it...

370Z Roadster rendered

Japanese Performance Car News, 24.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

The folks at Inside Line have added to the 370Z rumourmill with their own rendering of what a drop-top version of Nissan's imminent 370Z might look like. Using the masked-up prototype that they recently featured as the basis, Inside Line digitally removed the roof, added an aerodynamic rear decklid and deleted the gaffer tape to produce a basic illustration of what a 370Z Roadster could potentially look like. No, it's not the real thing, but given the obvious similarities between the current...

Acura to Get V8 Grunt: Fukui

Japanese Performance Car News, 23.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Honda CEO Takeo Fukui has reportedly approved the development of a V8 engine for the Japanese company's prestige brand Acura, which could quite possibly find its way into the top-o'-the-line RL (AKA Legend) luxury sedan and MDX SUV. The news confirms rumours that circulated around the Internet earlier this year, predicting a Honda V8 by 2010. Since the company was formed, Honda has resisted the urge to put a bent-eight under the bonnets of its passenger cars (Mugen Legend MAX excluded, of...

Toyota To Revive Sports 800 With iQ-based Roadster?

Japanese Performance Car News, 22.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Is Toyota contemplating building a spiritual descendent of the classic Sports 800 sports car using the FWD underpinnings of the yet-to-be-released iQ minicar? The jungs over at Auto Motor und Sport seem to think so, and by their reckoning such a car may well drop at next year's Tokyo Motor Show. The car in their renderings presents a fairly faithful and tasteful homage to the original 1960s Sports 800, but sadly the FF powertrain layout beneath it does not. Still, with a 1.0 and 1.3-litre...

Video: Nissan R35 GT-R - Behind The Scenes

Japanese Performance Car News, 22.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

It's time to loosen the tie, take the phone off the hook and put your feet up on the desk. That's right folks, it's time to waste time at work - JPCN style. The documentarians over at National Geographic were lucky enough to be granted an unprecedented level of access to Nissan's GT-R throughout its development process, and the result is one doozy of a documentary. There's not much in terms of tech-specs or special GT-R secrets (not anything we don't already know, anyway), but it's a great...

Update: Toyota FR Sports Speculation

Japanese Performance Car News, 20.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Development of Toyota's upcoming front-engined, rear-wheel-drive compact sports coupe has apparently been dogged by issues related to the modified Subaru Liberty platform it's being based on, with project engineers complaining that the standard Liberty suspension hardware and geometry is "weak and terrible". Hardly a vote of confidence for what's meant to be the successor to the much-vaunted AE86, is it? Rumours are also floating around that Toyota may detune the FR Sports's EJ20 boxer...

Captured On Camera: Motor Trend Releases Video of 370Z Prototype

Japanese Performance Car News, 16.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

370Z mania is just around the corner folks, and the dudes over at Motor Trend have wisely decided to get in on the game early. Motor Trend recently spent some quality time with a 370Z prototype (which appears to be the the same one that Inside Line played around with) and has published a rather in-depth video of its findings. Like Inside Line, Motor Trend were forbidden to talk about how the 370Z actually handles on the road, nor were they even allowed to video the interior or engine bay....

More GT-R Sedan Renderings

Japanese Performance Car News, 16.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Despite everyone (including Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn) declaring it a silly idea, speculation of a four-door high-performance sedan based off the R35 GT-R's platform and drivetrain refuses to die. This time around, it's Japanese mag Best Car that's peddling the rumours, publishing these renderings of what they say could represent a four-door take on the twin-turbocharged uber-coupe. Aside from the obvious addition of a pair of doors, as well as some minor trim changes, the sedan shown in...

Well F#$@ Me, Evo X FQ400 Greenlit

Japanese Performance Car News, 16.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Way back in March, Mitsubishi UK announced that the all-new Lancer Evolution X was available in factory-modified FQ360 trim. With the badge denoting the power, the FQ360 boasted a handy three hundred and sixty horses (268kW) from its modified 4B11 engine, which was a decent step up from the standard X's 294hp. Still, the question on everyone's lips at the time concerned whether or not Mitsubishi UK would see fit to revive the big-daddy FQ400 badge for the Evo X - a move which back in March...

Nissan 370Z - Up Close & Personal

Japanese Performance Car News, 16.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

The folks over at Inside Line appear to have pulled off a bit of a coup with the all-new 370Z, managing to infiltrate Nissan's top-secret workshop facility, snap several photos of a still-shrouded prototype and escape well before Carlos Ghosn's crack team of cyborg commandos and genetically-enhanced attack hounds could get to them. Okay, so perhaps their brief encounter with the 370Z wasn't quite as daring as that, but at least they still managed to scoop some useful specs and take some...
