Z34 370Z To Get 248kW V6, Paddle-Shifted Auto

Japanese Performance Car News, 12.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Preliminary tech specs of Nissan's upcoming Z34 370Z have been uncovered, and it comes as no surprise that the new Z's VQ37VHR engine boasts a slight improvement in power over the mechanically similar unit found in the V36 Skyline 370GT/Infiniti G37 Coupe. Not only that, but at 248kW the Z34's powerplant is substantially more powerful than every other car in that market segment (RX-8, S2000, SLK350) and even scores a 9kW advantage over the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera. Nissan has clearly set...

Nissan To Build Special-Edition R35 GT-R LM?

Japanese Performance Car News, 11.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Fresh from the rumourmills is news that Nissan may build a road-legal homologation version of an upcoming R35-based Le Mans challenger. That's right. As if the R35 wasn't already powerful enough, Nissan want to sell you a race-tuned version. Nissan have given no official confirmation of this rumour, but if it turns out to be true you can bet your bottom dollar the end result will be one seriously hardcore vehicle, with a price to match. If this news has a familiar ring to it, don't be...

Nismo S-Tune Package Confirmed For 370Z

Japanese Performance Car News, 09.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Preliminary information on Nismo's S-Tune package for the yet-to-be-released Z34 370Z has already hit the web, along with a smattering of pics that show the shapely coupe in a couple of new angles. It's been barely ten days since we saw the first leaked image of Nismo's kitted-up interpretation of the Z34, but thanks to the cyber-sleuths at 370Ztech we can finally lay eyes on the full package - along with specs on exactly what's been changed over the standard model. There's two packages...

SEMA 2008: J-car Top Three

Japanese Performance Car News, 08.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

It's that time of the year again... SEMA time. Yep, that annual festival of chrome, dubious "aero" kits and iced-out 22-inch rims has rolled into Las Vegas again, and as usual there's more than enough Japanese modified cars to go around. By all accounts this has well and truly been the year of the GT-R, with the R35 popping up in virtually every stand (well, maybe not in the off-roader hall). Given the twin-turbocharged AWD monster's incredible turn of speed, bargain-basement pricetag and...

370Z Spotted In Europe

Japanese Performance Car News, 06.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

We've all seen the press pics by now, but here's something a bit more special: the first sighting of an actual un-camouflaged 370Z in the metal. Reportedly seen somewhere in Europe at some kind of official Nissan event, these shots show the 370Z in a different light - and it's lookin' damn fine. The headlights look a lot sleeker than the 350Z's units, the front bumper's 'fangs' aren't as awkward as all those renderings would have you believe and those fender flares would have to be some of...

Nismo 370Z Leaked?

Japanese Performance Car News, 01.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Hmm, here's a head-scratcher for you all. This lone image of what appears to be a Nismo-fettled version of the upcoming 370Z has hit the web, suggesting that a S-Tune variant of the retro-modern coupe (or at least the cool bodykit pictured) could be available from the Nissan-backed tuning house shortly after its debut. We've got no tech specs to share, unfortunately, but judging by what we see here the Nismo kit is a definite winner. The side skirts and rear bumper extensions tie in...

Subaru To Exhibit STI-Spec Forester XTI Concept At SEMA

Japanese Performance Car News, 01.11.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Subaru's new turbocharged Forester XT, while powerful, never really had quite enough grunt to qualify itself as a true sports crossover. Yes, it's moderately quick in a straight line but it certainly isn't going to burst your eyeballs in factory form. Show it a corner or two and it falls (or rather, rolls) flat on its face too, showing that despite being built upon the WRX's chassis the Forester is still some distance away from being the nimble CUV many think it is, or hoped it would be. ...

2009 Mazda3 MPS Spotted Hurtling 'Round the 'Ring

Japanese Performance Car News, 29.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Recently spotted undergoing testing at the Nurburgring test facility, this taped-up Mazda 3 attracted a great deal of attention for one reason and one reason only: that enormous bonnet scoop. Looking a little like the scoop used on the GH Impreza WRX, that bulging bonnet suggests that what you're looking at is a pre-production prototype for an impeding MPS/Mazdaspeed version of the recently-released Mazda3 - the last version of which boasted the distinction of being the fastest Mazda...

Nissan Releases First Official Pics Of 370Z

Japanese Performance Car News, 29.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

It's been a long wait, but its finally over. Nissan has released the first few images of the all-new 2009 370Z, giving us our first good look at the latest chapter in the long-running Z-car saga. We've seen countless renderings, numerous spy videos, a few "sneak peeks" and even a full-size real-life mockup, but now we can finally end the speculation and divert our attention to the real deal. The official pics all confirm our suspicions: that Nissan were going to apply the Maxima's...

Wait, What? GT-R Sedan Back On The Cards?

Japanese Performance Car News, 28.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Despite repeated denials from Carlos Ghosn himself, rumours of an impending GT-R-based performance sedan refuse to die. This time around though, the rumour-mongers (Peter Lyon, I'm lookin' at you) say the R35's twin-turbocharged 353kW VR38DETT motor won't feature under the sedan's bonnet, instead being replaced by a hi-po variant of the 5-litre naturally-aspirated VK50DE V8 that powers the Infiniti FX50 SUV. The GR6 twin-clutch transaxle and ATTESA-ETS all-wheel-drive system are...

370Z Revealed, Or Just Rendered?

Japanese Performance Car News, 26.10.2008 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, jpcnews.blogspot.com

Official pics of the 370Z are just a couple of days from being released by Nissan, but that doesn't mean people aren't going to jump the gun and publish pics of the real deal slightly ahead of schedule. The dudes and dudettes at Japanese car mag Carmode are one such mob, and have put an image of what appears to be a fully-undisguised, production-spec 370Z on the front cover of their December issue. Given the poor quality of the scan, it's hard to tell whether their image is an actual photo or...
