It seems that the Mazdaspeed Atenza concept isn't the only car from the Mazda stable to get hotted-up for the Tokyo Auto Salon. Like the Atenza, the Demio (Mazda 2), Axela (Mazda 3) and MX-5 have also received some love from the brand's in-house tuning shop, Mazdaspeed.
Like the Atenza concept, the Demio, Axela and MX-5 are only intended to be design studies, nothing more. However, given the time and effort expended on making them look so good, it'd be a crime if Mazdaspeed didn't release the bodyparts as an aftermarket kit, if not a full vehicle. Aside from those beefy blue Mazdaspeed calipers, performance upgrades are on the mild side, with new dampers and springs improving handling while a new exhaust ekes out a few more horses from the standard motors. They sure look tough, though.
In addition to the Mazdaspeed cars, Mazda will also be bringing along a DAMD-modified Atenza (above) along with Kenstyle's take on the, um, MPV minivan.
The Mazdaspeed cars sure look sexy, but can you look forward to seeing these parts available from your local Mazda dealer anytime soon? We'll have to wait until January to find out...
