"It's Official": Nissan GT-R V-Spec Confirmed For 2009

Tony, 27.10.2007 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, Archiv (Blogs, Mitglieder-Artikel)

According to Nissan's own press release for their new performance flagship, the GT-R is (currently) only available in three spec levels: Base, Black Edition and Premium. Now, word around town is that "V-Spec" will be added to that list from 2009-onwards.

The V-Spec, or Victory-Specification, was first introduced on the R32 Skyline GT-R to celebrate the racing success of that car in Group N and Group A racing, and it featured a host of mechanical upgrades and weight-saving measures over the standard model. Like the R32 GT-R V-Specs of old, the new R35 V-Spec will benefit from both an increase in power and a decrease in weight, although Nissan is keeping mum on what the vital numbers will be - or whether the V-Spec will be offered with a manual gearbox. There hasn't been an official announcement from Nissan just yet, however Inside Line's Scott Oldham assures us that Nissan has concrete plans to introduce the V-Spec to the GT-R lineup about a year after the regular GT-R goes on sale.
