My friend Bill Miles suggested I not miss this year’s ATHS show in Ballston Spa, New York, which took place last weekend. I’m glad he did. Not only was it about an hour from Hemmings HQ, but the weather cooperated this year and more than 300 trucks of all sorts filled the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. Lot of rare stuff, too, like the NAPCO 4WD  Chevrolet in the middle of the above picture.
Then there was this 1964 Jeep FC-170 fitted with a Howe body, now under the care of the Shakerley Engine and Hose Company in nearby Clifton Park, New York.
How about a 1997 AM General Hummer with 37-inch Super Swampers, the 6.5L turbodiesel and enough brush guards to fend off a rhinoceros attack?
Normally, I wouldn’t post such taunts here, but, well, he’s got a right to taunt whomever he pleases. Nice receiver blank, though…
I learned that some Macks, particularly this 1965 R-400, came equipped with Chrysler 413-cubic-inch gasoline V-8s.
You know I would have taken this 1948 CJ-2A home if I had the chance, wrecker and all.
Is that a Model A windshield serving as the rear window?
Check out how the boom for the wrecker passes through the rear bulkhead and mounts between the seats.

On one of the swap meet tables, found this unique carburetor and hat assembly. I couldn’t see how the two were separable, and the carburetor itself, a four-barrel design - looked strange.
“Holley Centri-Vac Governor,” it reads. I assume the governor is the part hanging off the carburetor here.
Finally, on the way out, I ran across this gorgeous pine model of a Cummins NH220 six-cylinder diesel engine, which apparently took builder Dexter Stafford (apparently of Littleton, New Hampshire) 350 hours to complete. Neither it nor any of his apparently scratch-built models were for sale, but they all showed the same painstaking attention to detail.
