Pretty much the same story as always - fella collects old cars and old car parts, stuffs them in a barn/garage/carport, swears he’ll get around to working on them someday, then circumstances intervene, in this case a bad back. The twist here? The fella focused just on Corvairs and forward-control air-cooled Chevrolet vans.

Many of you may know Herb Martin in Crabtree Oregon, near Salem. I just got off the phone with him and he is a heck of nice guy. The problem is that he has such a bad back that he can’t work on the corvairs he spent 35 years collecting to enjoy in his retirement. He literally has several barns and buildings storing dozens of cars and FCs, including many parts for same. The bad news is that his lease on one of the buildings is running out and he has to move the corvair stuff out. If people don’t come and get it, he has to send this stuff to the scrap pile.
If this was one car we were talking about, I wouldn’t raise the alarm, but this is a huge stash of corvair history about to go the wrong way. From what he described to me, this stuff will need to be taken away on a trailer, but the price is right. For a $50 U-Haul rental and weekend drive, you could come home with a very restorable car.
