As the 2008 photo season winds down, I was looking through my records and discovered about a dozen photoshoots that haven’t made one of the magazines yet. I posted a series of these last year and most of those have run by now, but a couple of big excursions this spring refilled things nicely. And I’ve still got at least a Triumph, American and Hupmobile to do this fall.
Starting in chronological order, it’s Bob Evans’ 1909 Pierce-Arrow 36UU.
For a high-powered car of the era, the 358-cu.in. six in the Pierce isn’t that huge, and the 36hp, with plenty more torque, makes it wonderfully easy to drive.
If there’s one thing I admire most about brass-era automobiles, its their jewelry. Plastic engine shrouds make me want to vomit with rage.
