Used car dealerships? Who cares about used car dealerships? Sure, their back lots are often great places to pick up a beater or the occasional collector car that got traded in, but used car dealerships usually aren’t as interesting as new car dealerships.
Unless, that is, you’re talking about Auto Trends at 5425 Van Nuys Blvd. in Van Nuys, California. Auto Trends’ tagline was “Corvettes and Super Stocks,” and that appears to be all that they sold, in an era when the term “muscle car” wasn’t quite in vogue yet, and “super car” or “super stock” often preceded it.
Jim MacDonald, who grew up in nearby Sherman Oaks, sent us these couple of photos of Auto Trends, taken in January 1968, while he was home on leave from Korea. He said when he next visited in December of that year, he doesn’t recall seeing Auto Trends – and he would’ve, because Van Nuys Boulevard was the place to cruise then.
If anybody else recalls Van Nuys Boulevard or Auto Trends – or any other muscle-only dealerships – drop us a line and help us fill in the story on that place.
As for the address, it now appears that Miller Nissan of Van Nuys occupies that location.
