Leben für den Rennsport, a German automobilia auction

Typ C Auto Union

So are you in the vicinity of Ladenburg, Germany, either today or tomorrow, finding yourself with nothing to do and gobs of spare Euros to spend? Yeah, me too. And if so, it might be worth your time to head over to the Seidel and Friedrich auction house for a killer auction of pre-war and mid-century German automobilia that appears to include autographed photos, brochures, vintage ads, logbooks, even an old board game, all with heavy focus on Porsche, Mercedes and Volkswagen.

I’d bid on it all, but I’m particularly fond of the above photo that appears to be signed by Hans Stuck (though I don’t recognize the photographer’s name). The low angle, the cant of the front left wheel, the spectator/official just beyond the wheel and, oh yeah, the car itself. I believe it’s a V-16-powered Auto Union Typ C; correct me if I’m wrong.
