Cripes, I hope I’m as relevant and productive as Clint Eastwood when I’m his age (78). Of course there’s no reason why I should expect to be since I’m not as relevant or productive now.
Anyway, Eastwood’s latest directorial/acting effort, Gran Torino, tells the story of one Walt Kowalski, a less-than-open-minded retired Ford assembly line worker and M1 carbine owner who undergoes a transformation after a teenage kid from next door tries to steal the prized Kowalski-family 1972 Gran Torino.
It isn’t a car movie though, Eastwood, told USA Today, though he’s apparently not opposed to cars as he still owns the convertible Lincoln from Honkeytonk Man, as well as a ’32 Ford roadster and a Morris Mini Countryman.
Given the current crisis in Detroit and the debate it has sparked around the country, Eastwood couldn’t have picked a better time to do this, eh?
