It’s been a while since we dug into the archive box that is a veritable cornucopia of photographic treasures, and the latest batch come from the June 1978 issue of Hemmings Motor News. To start with, even though it looks at first blush like one of the Ghia concept cars for  Chrysler, and Ghia did indeed design and build the body, the car above is actually the 1956 Ferrari 510 Super America coupe, advertised with 7,600 miles for $65,000 out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Weep for that price, ye who have $65,000 in pocket change, but consider too that in modern dollars, that’s the equivalent of roughly $230,000. Which is probably still cheap for a one-of-one Ferrari.
Here’s one I wish I would have had for the now infamous brake battle - an Aston Martin DB6 estate, allegedly one of three built. If you had $14,750 and lived near North Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, this could have been yours.
According to the ad for this one, it’s a 1963 Sunbeam LeMans with bodywork by Harrington’s. The four-place hatchback was finished in red with a red interior and used a 1.6-liter and four-speed with overdrive for motivation. Odometer showed 47,000 miles and the price tag asked for $1,950. Seller was based in Timperley, Cheshire, England.
And finally, a seller in Willowdale, Ontario, wanted $10,000 even for his 1950 MG Lester, allegedly the only aerodynamic Lester in existence and a well-known VSCCA racer at that, with a full-race XPEG engine.
I think it’s worth asking where all these cars are now, don’t you?
