* Over at Dean’s Garage, they uploaded a whole cache of 1950s Ford photos , courtesy Mike Parris and Howard Fisher, the former of which wrote the book, “Fords of the Fifties.” Lot of great stuff from  Ford’s archives there, including the above concept model, which seemed to carry the name Muroc – a neat tidbit for you hot rodders out there.
* Apparently, Toyota hosts a classic car festival at its auto museum in Tokyo, and has done so for a couple years now. The festival includes a parade, a special exhibit at the museum and an open car show. This year’s festival takes place November 28.
* After our post the other day on the vehicles of the New York State Museum, one of which was an Eliason Motor Toboggan, we came across this patent taken out by one C.J. Eliason for a “vehicle for snow travel” in an article on Adirondack Snowmobile History on the Adirondack Almanack. (via)
* A couple cash for clunker-related news items crossed our desks this week. First, Edmunds, those well-regarded analysts of the auto industry, released a report stating that the whole scheme cost taxpayers $24,000 per car if you only calculate for incremental sales. Then the Obama administration shot back, calling the analysis “faulty” and “implausible” and charging Edmunds with partisan politicking.
* Finally, BigLorryBlog correspondent Nick Garlick came across this heavy truck built for drag racing and wants to know more about it. Looks like a Diamond T to us.
