Four-Links - another factory pink car spotted, museum celebrates car fresheners, rollerskate ninjas

* We’ve posted on the Birmingham News’s Engine Block blog and their friends at Old Car Heaven before, and the folks at OCH recently brought home a pink 1956 Chrysler New Yorker convertible. Why we’ve been obsessed with pink cars lately, dunno. The 1956 Chrysler color chip chart lists a Desert Rose as the closest color to the paint on this New Yorker, but the New Yorker looks a couple shades lighter. Could just be chalky from exposure.

* Sometimes the exhibits at automotive museums seem a little too been-there-done-that. So we can say with near-absolute certainty that the Saratoga Automotive Museum’s upcoming exhibit on automotive air fresheners breaks new ground for automotive museums. The selection isn’t that random, either: The Car-Freshner Corp., which pioneered the automotive air freshener, also hails from Upstate New York and continues to rid our cars of funk even today.

* What movie this clip comes from, I don’t know. Why ninjas are on roller skates, I don’t know. What beef they have with this dude, I don’t know. And what car this is, I don’t know. But it’s awesome nonetheless.

CMP Blitz

* We can’t let a March Military Campaign go by without mentioning the CMP, and thanks to BigLorryBlog and one of their anorak contributors, we see that the CMPs even made it down to Australia. In fact, AktiPete found three of the bruisers, which is probably three more than I’ll ever see here in the States.

* Finally, George Orwell apparently used a Rudge to get around the isle of Jura while writing 1984, and he apparently left it under an alder tree when he left the island, or so goes the story that Jock Mackneish wrote for the UTMC a few years back. No photos, though (they probably were sent down the memory hole), so we’re left wondering whether it’s true or whether it’s a Ministry of Truth tale designed to keep the proles in place. (via, ultimately)
