Edsel Ford?s hot rod - of course there?s no pre-auction estimate

Edsel Ford Speedster

Suffice it to say, anybody interested in buying the Bob Gregoire Gregorie-designed, ex-Edsel Ford, ex-Bill Warner one-of-a-kind 1934 Continental Series II Speedster at RM’s upcoming Amelia Island auction won’t have the challenge of bidding against me. Not that I wouldn’t love to own it, more because RM elected not to attach a pre-auction estimate in one of those if-you-have-to-ask-you-can’t-afford-it deals.

Edsel Ford Speedster

Curiously, this car likely would have foundered in obscurity if it weren’t for Hemmings’ own Special Interest Autos, which profiled the car in its second issue and much later prompted Bill Warner to seek out the car for inclusion at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, an endeavor that led to Warner buying the car from John Pallasch, who boasted of burying the needle on the car’s 120 mph speedometer.

Now I know what this week’s SIA Flashback will be.
