One of the nicest treats for Big E visitors is the chance to see one of the Peter Pan Bus Lines‘ Futurliners, the one I didn’t take a picture of last year. This time, though, I remembered my camera and grabbed a couple snapshots. I know Peter Pan has two of the Futurliners, but I believe this is the same one that was at the fair last year painted green. I wonder if the bus company plans on finding or recreating the missing trim.
As was the case last year, plenty of folks gathered around it. However, this year, everybody seems to have forgotten all about Ron Pratte’s $4 million Futurliner purchase.
Other than that and an antique tractor display, the Big E didn’t have much for car guys. But on the way down, Heather and I spotted a pair of Studebakers on the back of a ramp truck:
They were headed south, and Heather said she saw several New Hampshire tags in the mix, so our guess was that a Connecticut Studebaker collector recently hit paydirt.
Both had Daytona trim; both circa 1964 or 1965.
Couldn’t tell from the angle whether the wagon had the Wagonaire sliding roof mechanism, though it doesn’t appear to. Hope they’re both going to a good home.
