Ray Bowman of Littleton, Colorado, got straight to the point in his email to me the other day:
My Grandfather Charles Bowman drove this tow-truck for Burt Chevy here in Englewood Colorado in the 40’s & 50’s.
And what a great truck it is. In the thumbnail, it appeared Nash, but when I opened it up, I couldn’t mistake the outline underneath the additional bumpers (and the overrider that spelled out B-U-R-T) as anything but a two-ton Chevrolet COE.
He was damn proud, and I’d be proud too.
As an aside, Burt is still in business today, though they seem to sell just about every brand under the sun in addition to Chevrolet.
