Nissan GT-R V-Spec... But Not By Much

At some point during the seemingly arduous task of developing the GT-R, Nissan took a stand on the warranty side of things (as we all know). The purists got involved (and apparently Porsche was none to happy about Nissan) and therefore, the Series II R35 GT-R will not feature launch control, which hinders it's acceleration time by .6 seconds (3.3 to 3.9).

Then, to seemingly clarify things, we all saw the R35 GT-R V-Spec roaming the 'Ring. And we thought "Hey! You know what!? Nissan has something up their sleeve!"

Well you can count that speculation as a farce as well, because Nissan has just unveiled to a select few the specs of the V-Spec. And it's a little bit less then underwhelming. You see, they've taken the weight down, added a new set of wheels, bumped the horsepower up a notch (new reports suggest 520 horsepower), added some lightweight seats, removed any mode except for R Mode, and dazzled up the exterior with functional carbon bits and some ceramic brakes that fit the same mold as the carbon bits.

All this for $170,000. That's essentially twice the price of a standard GT-R. Do you believe it's worth the extra dough? Via GTR.co.uk
