A/Gas of a Racer: The 1951 Henry J Gasser Drag Racer!

Jim Brennan, 05.11.2009 in Partner- und Mitglieder-Blogs, blog.cardomain.com

One thing I have noticed on my first SEMA trip was the diversified demographics of the event. There were older people riding around in their electric scooters mixed in with late teen and early 20s men, beautiful bodacious babes walking with homemakers of all ages, and even a contigent of late baby boomers. There is also a myriad of vehicles that date from all generations, including representatives from the early 50s. Like this Henry J A/Gas Drag Car. I think it’s rather cool, but what do you think?

This little Henry J has run under the NHRA Heritage Series A/Gas class, and has been the number one qualifier at many events with an outright win at the Las Vegas event. The body is all firerglass, with a custom chrome moly double frame rail chassis. This little J has a 380 Cubic Inch Chevrolet small block, backed up by a modified Powerglide Automatic.

It’s an unusual racing machine, and its campaigned by Beans Family Motorsports, and was on display at the Derale (pronounced De-Rail-E) Performance Booth, right next to the fabulous Ford OEM Booth in the Central Hall of SEMA. It is so refreshing to see this car in comparison to the over the top cars at this years show.
