Last weekend, I decided to go to the 38th annual Antique Auto Meet that was held in Glastonbury Connecticut and as you can tell from my other postings, I decided to highlight some of the iron that was at the show for this weekend.
This is some of the Pre-War cars that were on hand…
This is a 1911 Stanley Steamer, and the owner drove the car into the show (from his trailer across the street). Listening to that steam engine propelling this car was more than a little eerie, as all you could hear was the persistent hisssss coming from under the hood. This was a magnificent restoration, and one of the best cars in the show.
Here is a 1914 Buick B25, and I’m not sure what you would call the body configuration. It’s a 4-door, but is it a convertible, or a phaeton? Anyway, this car looks like it had a restoraion done to it a long time ago, as a hint of a patina is re-emerging, and the seats are not quite perfect. For an almost 100 year old Buick, it looks quite nice.
This is a 1936 Auburn 852 Rumble Seat Roadster, and it looks great. This car is not quite as famous as the Boat Tailed Roadster, but it was still a high-end luxury car for the time. Auburn was owned by E.L. Cord and was a part of the Auburn, Cord, Dueseuberg family. Take a look at the intricate instrument panel in the gallery.
This is a 1937 Packard Super-8 Dietrich Convertible Sedan. Magnificent is the only word I could come up with.
This is the interior of a 1934 Packard Super-8 Sedan, and you have to wonder how much time it took craftsmen to build this luxurious interior. Look at the gallery for more images of this Packard, including the Crystal Eagle Head Hood Ornament.
