If any of my fellow Hoons happen to own a late model Ford F-250 4×4 with the 6.5 Turbo diesel engine in it be prepared for the possibility of some major surgery being required to it around the 50,000 mile mark.
The gasket and O-ring between the turbo and the fuel supply valve appears to be somewhat questionable. My brother, thejeepjunkie, in the blue shirt in the above image, runs a smallish Mom and Pop repair facility here in the Birthplace of Speed.
One of their major fleet accounts has their light duty trucks and cars maintained at his shop. This problem occurred to this particular F250 as well as to a coworker’s 250. The only way to remove the turbo in one of these is to remove the cab of the truck itself.
Apparently with the cab in place there is only about three inches of space between the firewall and the back of the turbo thus requiring this extensive body surgery.
So my fellow Hoons, should this occur to your ride and you wish to perform the surgery yourself know the parts for retail at $188.72. Should you hire thejeepjunkie to perform that surgery it will cost you an additional $1,100.00. Remember, you heard it here first.
