Ford’s New Smaller Ecoboost V6

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Ford’s new 2.7 L Ecoboost V6 motor is turning out to be a very interesting engine. The engine produces 325 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque from 17-18 psi of boost. This gives the engine a 120 hp/L and 140 lb-ft/L power ratio. Ford is building this engine to handle truck duty, so I know there is plenty of more power to obtain from this, especially with the new compacted graphite iron block. Ford says this is the first production gasoline engine to ever incorporate compacted graphite iron into the block. The engine weighs 440 pounds dry. I do not know when these will show up as a crate option but expect the price to be between $8k (2.0L I4) and $9.4K (3.5L V6). The first production vehicles to offer this will be the 2015 F-150 and Ford Edge Sport.
