By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief I'm a big fan of Swedish cars. Growing up my family had a beautiful dark green Saab 99 and I've owned three Volvo 240s over the years (still have an '88 wagon). But man, things are not looking good for the Swedish automakers right now. Ford wants to sell Volvo and GM may ditch Saab. Why did Detroit mess with the Swedes in the first place?I wasn't too thrilled when Volvo switched to FWD in the mid-90s. Still, Ford's acquisition of Volvo in 1999 made some sense...

By Katherine Helmetag AKA atomicalex If one unsold Ferrari Daytona Spyder is enough to call it the end of an era, then the classic and collector car market is officially soft. The Wall Street Journal called it last week, noting that prices on these cars have been sliding along with the availability of credit. Suffering the least seem to be the mid-priced British classics that never saw significant bubble pricing, while American Muscle and Italian iron are getting hit harder due to the...

By Steve Neil aka JDMGTR At some point during the seemingly arduous task of developing the GT-R, Nissan took a stand on the warranty side of things (as we all know). The purists got involved (and apparently Porsche was none to happy about Nissan) and therefore, the Series II R35 GT-R will not feature launch control, which hinders it's acceleration time by .6 seconds (3.3 to 3.9). Then, to seemingly clarify things, we all saw the R35 GT-R V-Spec roaming the 'Ring. And we thought "Hey! You...

By Katherine Helmetag AKA atomicalex Ford just released their plans for the future as presented to Congress today. The document reviews the many changes Ford has made to their structure prior to the banking crisis and asks for a 10 year, $9 billion loan subject to TARP conditions to help ride out the current storms. I'm going to plow through all 33 pages of it tonight—we all should, if only to better understand one of the companies that makes the machines we so love.

By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief The Grassroots Motorsports $2007 Challenge winning Cheaparral Racing Corvette is on eBay! The matte black Vette comes with twin turbos and an independent snowmobile-powered M1 Abrams tank sucker fan. So do you think it's worth more than $2007? All proceeds of the sale go to the United Way, which is pretty darn cool. Thanks to Sean for the tip! eBay

By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief Everyone loves top ten lists. With GM set to go back to Congress, here's Popular Mechanic's list of GM's top ten biggest goofs since 1970. I don't think Jen would agree with the selection of the Vega. And I'm not sure I agree with the inclusion of the EV1 or the '91-'95 Saturns. What do you think?

By Ron aka WayTooFurious Sunday was a great day for me. I got to attend the American Breed 2008 show. Run by the 60s American Car Club, the show caters to all American two- and four-door cars and rods. Although attendance was down because of some really bad weather on the previous day, it still turned out to be a top event. The show had a wide range of cars from 50s Caddies to classic American muscle like Chargers, Mustangs and Camaros. However the one car that left me really puzzled...

By Craig McAlpine iMotor A dealer near our offices invited me to have a go in an Eleanor Mustang. It's pretty sweet even if it is not a real GT500! Not so sure about all the Gone in 60 Seconds badges and the £130,000 price tag, but it's seriously good fun! Unfortunately, the car was about to head to 'Top Gear Live' so I had to be really, really careful!

By Katherine Helmetag AKA atomicalex The Kia Rondo is what 20 years of evolution would do to the Mitsubishi Colt Vista, the smallest car ever to seat seven or sleep two. It's deja vu all over again—the Rondo keeps the flexible seating along with the Vista's minimal (read: zero) cargo space when all seating is deployed. That said, the Rondo is far from the bottom of my rental ride ranking—it handled some miserable winter weather well and seemed less top-heavy than the Dodge Caliber in town....

By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief Many of you noticed that John and Jen have not posted recently. CarDomain has been suffering along with everyone else in this crappy economy, and we made some significant staff cutbacks last month. Sadly, John and Jen were part of those cuts. Times are tough. Advertising dollars have been drying up, and many automotive web sites and magazines have shut down completely. Turbo, Sport Compact and Modified Luxury & Exotic are gone. ForbesAutos is gone. RiceBoyTV...

By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief Ok, playing a bit of catch-up here. We got a ton of entries in our November 21 caption contest. We really liked Hyper's "You can take the Subaru out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the Subaru"—but there was no ride page link. So it's going to jac_1988 for "i bet he gets a lot of beaver with that bumper." We'll get back on track and announce the winner of the November 28 caption contest on Thursday, so stay tuned...

By Don Roy UberDrive Magazine So, perhaps you’ve seen a Redline Time Attack event, or somebody has mentioned just how cool this form of competition is and now you’re ready to sign up for the next event. That’s great, but we should take some time and talk about what you’re getting yourself into. Surprises are best left to birthday parties, not for your arrival at the track.A Time Attack session is your opportunity to pit yourself and your car against the clock, to gain fame and glory by...

By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief Entry # 1237 shows how it's done. I have been in love with horses ever since i was a young boy and told myself that ever since i will start driving my first car will be one with a horse symbol. Keeping in mind the Ferrari was out of the question, I fell in love with the body style of 99-04 Mustangs. My first car was and is a Satin Silver Ford Mustang GT that I will never get rid of! Consindering I am 20 yrs old, I plan onto adding performance and suspension...

By Gary Faules NASA Mentor Director Anyone who has ever loved racing has their favorite venues. There is drag, road, rally, Nascar, F1, and many other forms of automotive racing. For many of us having been involved from behind the steering wheel for many years, we can enjoy all of the above but there always seems to be at least one racing venue that seems to stand out from all the rest. For me it is hands down La Carrera Panamericana. In short this race started in 1950 with the Mexican...

By Dave Rivers UberDrive Magazine Inspiration—that is something that is shared between this particular ROUSH pickup truck and a nineteenth century novel. 'Nightmare' was the original term for the state later known as waking dream, first credited to Mary Shelley in her novel ‘Frankenstien.’ Anonymously published in 1818, the story came about one stormy night in a cottage on the shores of Lake Geneva. Together for the evening, Mary, her husband and Lord Byron challenged each other to write...
