Transplanting entire front ends between cars is nothing new. For instance, the "Strawberry Face" S15-to-other-S-platform swap is a tried-and-true mod, and the nose of an R34 GT-R also seem to graft quite well onto a WGCN34 Stagea. However, one swap that we've never seen done before is a KPGC10 GT-R front end on a Suzuki Mightyboy. Well, it's not really a proper swap as the "C10" bits appear to be lo-rent reproductions of the real thing, but that doesn't diminish the sheer weirdness of it...

The lucky lads at Brit mag CAR recently spent some quality time with Mazda's upcoming 2009 MX-5 and have published what appears to be the first ever road test of that particular model. It's a short one, but it describes in good detail the various dynamic and cosmetic improvements that Mazda have injected into the facelifted Roadster, as well as lifting the lid on a few minor changes that Mazda themselves have neglected to mention. Check it out at CAR's website here. [Source: CAR] ...

British car mag Autocar have published these low-res photos of the upcoming Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400, giving us our first glimpse at Mitsubishi's special UK-only AWD monster. Suffice to say, it looks great. The heavily vented bodywork stuffs more cold air into the engine bay and extracts more hot air out of it, while the carbonfibre front splitter and carbonfibre rear diffuser help glue the FQ-400 to the tarmac. An Evo IX-inspired vortex generator sits at the trailing edge of the...

Here you go guys, check out these newly-released images of Nismo's own take on the all-new 370Z. Now I dunno about you, but that crazy-ass bodykit is growing on me... We'll have more info on what makes the S-Tune tick shortly, but for now check out a few more pics of Nismo's latest project after the jumpity-jump. [Source: 370Ztech.com, Nissan] [Images: Nissan]

The cat's outta the bag folks. Preliminary specs of the low-fat, ginseng-infused GT-R Spec-V have been revealed and boy, do they make for interesting reading. Much of what was previously speculated has been confirmed, with the Spec-V receiving a small bump in power, a substantial reduction in weight, carbon-ceramic brakes and upgraded versions of the standard car's Bilstein Damptronic shock absorbers. There's been many other changes too, so hit the jump to check 'em out. The following is...

Rumours of an impending Honda/Acura V8 are certainly nothing new, but while we previously predicted that such an engine would make its production debut as early as 2010, word on the street is that the projected launch date could be 2015 at the earliest. The next generation of Honda Legend/Acura RL will supposedly carry on with the same SH-AWD underpinnings and transverse engine layout of the current models, with the generation after that being the recipient of the hotly-anticipated...

Ah yes, the RPS13 180SX/200SX/240SX. Beloved by enthusiasts around the world, Nissan's lightweight entry-level coupe of the 1990s has proved itself adept at many disciplines over the years. Drag, drift, circuit, time attack and even the wangan, the humble S13-based fastback has at some stage conquered them all. "But can it turn a raw patty of minced beef into a delicious, greasy burger?" you ask. Ordinarily I'd simply use your IP address to hunt you down, stalk you over several days and...

The lucky devils over at Inside Line have already gotten their mitts on a 370Z press car and they've got the road test to prove it. Among other things, IL's crew managed to pin down one of the Z34's heretofore unknown parameters during their time with the car - its 0-60mph (96.6kph) sprint time. 5.1 seconds is the magic number, and not only is it a great result for a naturally-aspirated RWD sports coupe, but it also puts the Nissan a whisker ahead of Porsche's Cayman S. The quarter...

Although it's been out of production for near on three years, Honda's legendary NSX still does battle on the circuits of Japans Super GT touring car series. Racing in the GT500 category, the Super GT NSX's aren't exactly what you'd call factory-issue. Nearly everything is changed. The V6 engine sits longitudinally rather than being transversely mounted, displacement is upped to 3.5 litres and the Super GT racer sits lower and wider than the its road-going cousin. The NA2 NSX's replacement...

We all know the stereotype: a bearded, overweight Star Wars fan living in his mother's basement, surrounded by rack after rack of official SW memorabilia and spending many a hot, sweaty night tapping out bizarre Chewie-on-C3PO fan fiction. Sad yes, funny maybe, but as much as we all like to laugh at the archetypical Boba Fett-lovin' Star Wars geek, more often than not we're all guilty of our own nerdy sins. I, for one, know many a GT-R/Silvia/Z/Supra tragic, and a good number of them have...

Nothing big here folks, just a JDM-spec promo vid for the 370Z. It's got some good action shots, but be prepared for what may very well be the world's most annoyingly repetitive tune. You have been warned. Hit the jump to check out the video. [Source: Nissan]

Rumours that Honda is considering importing the British-built FN2 Civic Type R to Japan and selling it alongside the JDM-only FD2 CTR have hit the web, raising more than a few eyebrows in the process. On some levels such a decision makes sense: The FN2 is a two-door hatchback with much sharper styling than the FD2, and would probably prove popular with buyers wanting a Type R with a bit more visual verve. On the flipside, the FD2 is by all accounts a fair few rungs up the performance ladder...

Terrible news guys. It appears that the head honchos at publishing powerhouse Source Interlink have decided to pull the plug on one of the best import-centric mags in the business:  Sport Compact Car. SCC showed yours truly that the world of modded automobiles was about more than just big shiny rims, sparkly paintjobs and scantily-clad jailbait. SCC taught me the fundamentals of engine tuning and the black art of suspension modification, and provided a few chuckles along the way (anyone...

The R35 GT-R is barely a year old, but it seems that Nissan is already preparing to roll out an updated Series 2 model to address a range of mechanical and cosmetic issues. Power will be up by 3.7kW to 357kW and fuel tank capacity will also be increased from 71L to 73.8L. Fuel economy will improve slightly to 11.76L/100km, Euro-spec suspension settings will be applied to the JDM models and brake hose stiffness will be increased, but the most attention-grabbing change is that Nissan have...

Honda has just unveiled their latest sports car concept at the LA Auto Show, the hydrogen-powered FC Sport. Built around the hydrogen fuel cell technology that's already debuted in Honda's FCX Clarity, the FC Sport is designed with supercar-level performance in mind. Pity about the looks, though. Without a doubt, the FC Sport is one of Honda's most ungainly concepts, and appears to be constructed entirely out of flat sheets of glass and plastic. The rear of the car and its weird...

British mag Auto Express has come to the fore with what appears to be the first peek beneath the upcoming successor to the legendary NA2 NSX. AE's cutaway appears to be very similar to an allegedly genuine rendering that they published months ago, so this may very well be the real deal. There's not much to see other than a very Corvette-like intake plumbing arrangement for the NSX's 600hp naturally-aspirated V10 and an interior that appears to be just as cramped as that of an S2000. Like...

It was only a matter of time before it happened, but it seems that an Australian workshop has managed to take the engine of their R35 GT-R right to the raggedy edge - and beyond. Yep, somebody's managed to destroy Godzilla's plasma-lined heart in the pursuit of ultimate power. The car, which was being used by ECU firm Haltech to conduct some fairly exhaustive R&D, suffered a catastrophic engine failure at Eastern Creek Raceway near Sydney at the end of last month, and it's only now that a...

The embargo is over, the veil has been lifted and we can finally give you the low-down on the all-new Z34 370Z. Nissan debuted the 370Z to much fanfare at the LA Auto Show today, and with it they've also released the first batch of stats n' specs of the new Z-car. Some details we already know, like how the VVEL-equipped 3.7-litre VQ37VHR V6 that powers it delivers some 246kW, and that the new 6-speed manual gearbox features a rev-synching function for downshifts (known as SynchroRev Match in...

While Japan tends to hog all the wacky, ultra-desirable special edition performance cars (take the MX-5 Coupe or the the Legacy STI S402, for example), occasionally a non-JDM car will pop up that offers something that Japanese dealers don't. Mitsubishi UK have long done it with their FQ series of Lancer Evos and now Mitsubishi Australia has gotten in on the game with its own locally-fettled product: the Evolution X TMR SST Club-Spec. With a name that long, the Aussie-tuned Evo could well...

A little over a week ago we mentioned that the dudes and dudettes at Inside Line were hosting their own little shindig for the 370Z on November 15. That date has come and gone and although we weren't there to check it out (we hope at least some of you were), the crew from Streetfire.net not only managed to rock up and shoot some pics, but they also scored some video of the Z34 370Z's first major public outing. Unfortunately Streetfire.net elected to dub The Crystal Method's Born Too...

It's getting so close we can taste it... and it tastes good. The number of days left until the Nissan 370Z officially debuts can be counted on one hand and the number of pics of 370Zs out in the wild continues to grow. Today it's GTR-World.net and Import Tuner's turn to show off their photographic skills, and they haven't disappointed with both managing to snap some very telling images of the Z34. First up, GTR-World has captured two hitherto unseen parts of the 370Z's body - the boot...

It seems that rumours of a January 2009 release and a ¥15m pricetag for the upcoming GT-R Spec-V may have some credence after all, as news from Japan suggests that the R35-based giant-slayer will be released to the Japanese public in the first month of next year, with deliveries to begin in February. If you want one you'd better be prepared for a long wait. The initial production run will apparently be limited to just 10 Spec-Vs per month, however that should rise as the order books open in...

VIP specialists Wald is in the midst of preparing a complete replacement bodykit for Lexus's potent IS-F. Called the Sports Line Black Bison Edition, Wald's IS-F kit lends the V8-powered luxo-sedan a more hardened image and also borrows a few styling cues from the company's upcoming R35 GT-R bodykit. As you can see from these computer renderings the front bumper will feature more aggressive venting and a catseye-scraping lower lip, while the rear receives a Ferrari 599-style diffuser and...

The official unveiling of the Z34 370Z is just five days away, but it seems that avid Z-spotters and certified car nerds haven't let up on hunting down, photographing and publishing their own happy snaps of Nissan's all-new sports coupe as it goes about its pre-show business. Anyway, I severely doubt that all of you have had your fill of 370Z goodness, so in that spirit eat up, dear readers, for here are even more shots of the Z flaunting its sexy curves out in public (and in a variety of...
