Farnbacher claims that since the Cayman is more balanced and has the ability to be better then the 911 given more horsepower. Farnbacher charges $39,500. Car and Driver said their test vehicle, which happened to be the best Cayman they ever have driven, came to a total of $124,360. It does seem step because one would be able to get a 911 Turbo for almost the same amount. The appearance is...

When Driftworks decided they needed a new car they decided to use the trusted S14 platform and the bulletproof Toyota 2JZ engine. This project was very difficult taking roughly 18 months. Just about every component on the car had to have some custom work on it. Using 15.9 psi, the engine is putting out 569 horsepower. Make sure to check out the rest of the article on Speedhunters. GM Performance Parts is debuting their LS9 crate motor at SEMA 2008. Jalopnik points out the current Z06 engine costs $14K so one can expect to pay more, possible a lot more for this motor. The great thing about this being offered as a crate engine is you no longer have to wait for a ZR1 to crash near your garage to have one. The only thing you need now is some deep pockets. Carscoop has plenty to say about this 1975 Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce. They point out the issues with the body modifications and the choice of a Mustang swapped engine. Of course we respect everyone’s opinion and they are of course entitled to theirs but it seems they missed the point when it comes to these particular cars. I have to completely disagree with their opinion on the use of the Mustang engine. The idea of taking an American V8 engine and putting it into a small European car is...

We mentioned on here before that EVS Motors was building a 2JZ-GTE powered 1967 Camaro. Well they didn’t quite get their intended horsepower level of 1,000. The video seems states the engine is running around 28 psi of boost and around 800 horsepower. Which is enough to get the car moving. Dodge is sending three Challengers to SEMA this year. One of the three is the Challenger SRT10 concept which has a swapped Viper V10 engine. The Viper V10 produces around 600 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. The brakes and suspension get an upgrade as well. Of course there is no telling if Dodge planning on actually offering this combo to the public. My guess is Dodge will stay far away since even GM is finding it hard to sell cars with their LSx platform. Source: Autoweek via Jalopnik

This 1990 Chevrolet Astro Van originally came from the factory with a 4.3L V6 engine. The Chevy Astro is a good choice for a LT1 swap since the 4.3L V6 is based off the Chevy V8 engine. Many of the same parts work for for both. This LT1 has an Edelbrock intake, 600 CFM carburetor, and is mated to a 4L60 transmission. The van being held back by some engine and traction issues is still able to run 14.8 seconds in the quarter mile. Source: Pro-Touring

Originally this Z28 came with a 302 but had a 396 swapped in its place. The current owner decided the Camaro needed some more power and after careful consideration settled on the beastly ZZ 502 crate motor. This engine out of the box puts down 502 horsepower and 567 lb.-ft. of torque. Also upgraded on the Camaro are new leafs, QA1 adjustable rear shocks, Hotchkis rear sway, Hotckis Subframe connectors, and CCW 17×8.5 wheels up front and 17×9.5 in the rear. Source: Pro-Touring

Ford Racing Performance Parts decided to take a Ford Focus RS and stuff a 5.0L Cammer crate motor. Ford decided to start with the RS version because of its sportier Euro appearance. Ann Arbor’s Washtenaw Community College has a pretty cool automotive program called Custom Cars & Concepts. It was in this program that a group of students took a Ford GT drivetrain and suspension and swapped it into a Ford 500. The Ford 500 was made only for two years and was to fill in the Taurus gap and came front wheel or all wheel drive with a 3.0L V6 producing around 208 horsepower. The supercharged 5.3L ford GT heart puts out around 550 horsepower. You can tell from the pictures...

It seems everyone these days wants to build their own Tumbler. This Tumbler is built by Australian native Grant Hodgson and features a big block Chevy 454 cubic inch motor with a small splash of nitrous for good measure. The base engine puts out 560 horsepower. No telling what the engine can do with a shot of nitrous. Something tells me this is not the last Tumbler we’ll see. Check Jalopnik site for video. Source: Jalopnik

Straight out of the unique engine swap folder comes the Dolmette motorcycle which is powered by 24 chainsaw engines. The chainsaws put their power to the ground via a single belt drive system. All together the engines make 24 cylinder 1.9 liter engine putting out around 167 horsepower and about 100 ft.lbs. torque. Dolmar explains the system below better then I can. The heart of the combined power plant is the central drive belt casing of aluminium construction. As well as encasing the eleven...

The MGB-GT originally came with a 1.8 L inline four cylinder engine producing around 98 horsepower. Enough power to get this little car going but probably not enough for most adventurous types. Dan Master decided he wanted to swap the old engine with a robust Ford 302 V8. The swap conversion was completed by Fast Cars Inc. which specializes in swapping American muscle into British sports cars. There is no exact numbers on horsepower or 0-60 but it is quoted as handling very well and was able...

Jalopnik has a good article written by engine geek Ben Wojdyla talking about the finer details of Ford’s EcoBoost V6. He talks about the advantages of the direct injection and the new exhaust manifold. All these details are very exciting since this engine setup will deliver 340 horsepower and 340 lb-ft torque out of a 3.5L V6 platform. I have high expectations for these engines. Colin Masterson knows his way around a S12, which is why he is a co-admin at Club S12 forum. But he is better known for his very unique S12. Colin bought the car in 2004 but didn’t really start to modify it until 2005. That year he swapped out the original interior for a black one, swapped a better condition factory VG30E, and had the body cleaned up and painted. In 2006 Colin decided to begin turning his car into something very rare, a RB20DET powered S12. Up until that point it had...
