GM Performance Parts is debuting their LS9 crate motor at SEMA 2008. Jalopnik points out the current Z06 engine costs $14K so one can expect to pay more, possible a lot more for this motor. The great thing about this being offered as a crate engine is you no longer have to wait for a ZR1 to crash near your garage to have one. The only thing you need now is some deep pockets. Well it has been a while but GM has finally released details on the ZR1 Corvette with the new supercharged LS9. Since the engine wall has been strengthened the LS9 engine could preform better then previous LSx models for turbocharging. Tech sheets show it is 20% stronger then the LS3 engine. I am sure many are waiting anxiously for someone to wreck a ZR1 near their house. I wonder how long it will be before we see a LS9 swap?

Here is a very nice LS1 powered 240Z. With the engine being just slightly heavier then the stock engine this car is able to put down a 10.9 @ 126 mph quarter mile. The engine is also pushed as far back as possible to the firewall giving the car a better weight distribution. Source: Viczcar

In a recent Motortrend article, Holden Special Vehicles has built a Pontiac G8 with a 7.0L 505 hp LS7 from a Corvette Z06. They also upgrade a few others such at 20″ wheels, exhaust, and suspension. Yet another way to get those groceries home ASAP. Source: Autoblog
