One of my college roommates went to school in South Carolina, and he used to talk about how his buddies would go out wheeling roll their CJs down hills on purpose. I thought that sounded crazy, but he assured me they always had a good time and cuts and bruises were the extent of the injuries. So when I saw the title of the video Tyler posted, I thought this might be a clip documenting recreation rolling. It's not, but it's still pretty cool. I like how you can hear one...

I participate on a lot of different social media sites. You can find me on Facebook, Linkedin, StumbleUpon, Digg, etc. Besides meeting great people who are interested in the same things as me (namely all things Porsche) I occasionally get good fodder for blog posts.
Maybe you’ve seen this Fiat that was morphed into a 996 look-a-like (for real). Well, check out the pictures below courtesy of “Kostenlose” over on Stumble. This is one of the funnier and better uses...

I snapped this cellphone pic while wandering around a shopping area in Vegas. The people over at Bebe picked a pretty good time to use tires in their ad campaign. These ads were on a lot of bus shelters, too. Too bad they used so many all-seasons. I can only spot two hi-po tires in that whole stack. What? Were they worried we'd miss the model if they used stacks of Azensis and P-Zeros?

Von Hot Rod has been doing free pinstriping every year I've been at SEMA, and I've always wanted to get my phone done. The only problem is that there are always giant lines, and since I generally spend all my time finding stuff to blog, that makes it a no-go for me. But I've gotten a chance to watch him work—it's amazing how steady his hands are!—and if you ever make it to SEMA, I highly recommend adding some old-school cool to your phone. Click here to watch a clip...

The Factory Five booth was packed as always. Their new '33 Hot Rod is a real beauty, and of course the GTM Supercar is always a big crowd pleaser. I'm still waiting on their slabside Cobra! They tell me it's in the queue—maybe we'll see it next year if we're lucky. More pics after the jump!

This gorgeous '71 Chevelle in the Custom Autosound booth is running a Donovan small-block crate motor and a Tremec 6-speed. And yeah, I was pretty disappointed to discover that it was not actually "FREE"&151;the sign refers to a stack of posters which had all been snapped up. See more.

Chip Foose is everywhere you look here at SEMA. I popped into Lincoln Electric to check out their new Precision TIG 225—the TIG welder for the rest of us—and spotted Foose on Lincoln's new lightweight full-screen welding hood. I tried it on—it's lighter than a regular full-screen auto-dimmer, and it's way lighter than my old glass helmet. It's also tricked out with the Hemisfear color scheme.

When the new xB was released, there was a little bit of a backlash from folks who didn't exactly love the chopped roof and tweaked dimensions. But even die-hard fans of the old model—I like to think of it as the "racing toaster"—have to appreciate how silky smooth Finishline West's xB came out. I chose this pic because I like how it shows off slick body lines, but the guys have also shod this baby with a sick set of multi-color wheels, and they really bring the whole...

It's been a bad week for to be an Italian supercar. Earlier today, Rob posted about the Gallardo just bisected via tree down in the Lone Star State, and I just stumbled across these shots of a Ferrari 360 doing a pole dance in the Land Down Under. Details come from local single-name-like-Madonna resident Vlado, who reported the car "sounded just like 'zing, zing,' as it want past," and that "the Stobie [telephone pole] split the car in two and it's basically up where...

Another weekend, another event, and this time it’s the OkTOWberfest "towing event" in Chicopee, Mass. This was the first time the show was held at a vacant lot that is the future site of a chain hotel, so it'll probably be the last. The event included a lot of interesting activities, such as the simulated "Crash Site" featuring a tanker rolled over onto a few cars, and into a city bus. The object was to demonstrate how the tow workers extract the cars and right...

I just about flipped when I found that someone besides me on CarDomain has an early-80's Ford Escort that they're really, really into. Walt's "Buzz-Bomb" is a basically stock '82 with the carbureted 1.6L, and he's contemplating what to do with it now that he's completed this very respectable Rustoleum paint job. All I know is that I love that home-built custom grille, and I'm trying to get Walt to fab up something similar-but-different for my diesel. Like all Escort...

Yesterday's news about the Renault-Nissan bid to acquire 20% of Chrysler got me thinking about Renault. French cars are fairly ridiculous, but I always kind of liked the Fuego. They were sold through AMC dealers in the US from 1982 to 1985, and one of my high school teachers bought one new. But you just don't see them around much any more. Slobodan’s Fuego is the cleanest example I could find on CarDomain, but he lives in the Republic of Macedonia. Pretty...

There are few things more badass than fighter planes launching from the deck of a carrier. So you have to wonder what's going to happen when you see this cute little Yaris drive onto the catapult. The results are predictable, but I got a disproportionately large kick out of this spot anyway. Enjoy.

It's hard to believe they can get 800 hp out of such a tiny, naturally-aspirated V8—current F1 regs call for a displacement of only 2.4L. Watch it rev to 18,000 RPM on the dyno, below.

Since everyone's always saying that the whole donk thing is over, you can bet people will probably be looking for something besides Caprices to slap giant wheels on. Who knows, FWD subcompacts like this Fiat 127 in Greece might be the next likely market for 26-and-up rims. The builder here might've been going more for pro-touring than hi-riser, since they kept the ride height almost as low as stock. But either way, a project like this means major surgery: think...

On Saturday, Tanner Foust didn't come in first—Vaughn Gittin, Jr. took that honor—but he did became the first driver to win the Formula Drift championship two years in a row. Now, he'll really have something to brag about when he starts hosting the American version of Top Gear! Samuel "the Crazy Swede" Hubinette took second, and Rhys Millen came in third. For more details on the action and tons of photos, head over to the events section.

On Wednesday I talked to Brian Fox, who was in the middle of driving his Lexus IS F cross country from Pennsylvania to Texas. He'll have the car at the Dallas HIN on Saturday, and from there he plans to take it to his buddy Kenny Strickler, who will install a Turbonetics GTK350 twin turbo setup. After that the next stop is the Lexus booth at SEMA!

I spent the past week participating in the Fireball Run Transcontinental Road Rally. Going in I wasn't sure what to expect. You see, Fireball is set up a bit differently than rallies like the Bullrun or Gumball. It's marketed as an "Adventure Rally." Here's the synopsis I was given beforehand:Fireball Run 2: Back to the Track, will have an 1980’s themed auto rally. 100 teams comprised of some of the most successful people on the planet embark on a 3500 mile 9 day...

Last week's Paris Motor Show was just another brutal reminder of all the cool cars we don't get over here. Like the Euro Ford Focus RS below. That car is cool. We're stuck with the boring US version. How about the Renault Megane with the crazy huge rear diffuser? We don't get it. Same goes for the Alfa Romeo Brera TI, Fiat 500 Abarth and Volkswagen Scirocco. See these cars and read the full article over at Road & Track.

Starting in 2010, all Fords will come with MyKey, a programmable system that will make seat belt warnings impossible to ignore, and will also be able to limit a vehicle's top speed and radio volume. Obviously, it's designed so parents can keep young drivers in check, and I can't imagine too many teens are going to love the idea. But given that most kids don't get to tell their folks what kind of car to buy, I think this could be a great selling point for Ford. What do...
