Sooo tired from this weekend. We got home very, very late from the Formula D Finale at Irwindale on Saturday night. While everyone else that attended FD Irwindale slept in on Sunday, I got up and prepared my camera equipment for yet another event - the...(read more)

In punkto Power steht der eRuf A...

In honor of Southern Cali month, I decided to roll out to the weekly Tab Tuesday meet in the 626 area (West Covina) last night. It was cool to check out the cars and catch up with some friends I haven't seen since before I left on the super long Speedhunters...(read more)

After just a few years, the annual Japanese Classic Car Show has become a Southern California tradition and the premiere classic Japanese auto event in the United States. In case you haven't heard, the '08 edition of the event will be held this Sunday October 12 at Hidden Valley Park in Irvine. Since I have lived in Japan I have had the chance to attend several classic car events, but there is something special about the unique SoCal touch of the JCCS. Of course I won't be able to...

As I continue my coverage of the Motorsport Japan Festival 2008, I wanted to first illustrate just how crowded this event was. Look at this photo of the Nismo Xanavi GT-R in the Nissan booth, the car is completely surrounded by people! While trying to photograph the car displays at the event, I quickly found that the only way to get unobstructed shots was to use my ultra wide angle lens while getting as close to the cars as possible. Taking photos was kind of tough, but then again it was nice...

When I was looking for some photo's of The Athens Tuning Show I came across a topic on the Driftworks forum, one of the posters there posted a nice collection of photo's of the event. The Athens Tuning Show is the biggest car event in Greece, it's a mix between new cars from manufacturers and tuners from Europe. Together with the indoor show they also have a action arena outside where you can see drifters and some other special acts. This year, same as last year, Team Orange made...

Electro-Swap: 1971 Plymouth Duster
Electro-Swap: 1971 Plymouth Duster

The Eleventh running of the 1000 Mile Petit Le Mans resulted in a classic Audi-Peugeot-Audi battle in the last half of the race. Andrew Jennings was at Road Atlanta taking these fantastic images for us. There was drama even before the race had started. 2nd place starter Allan McNish lost control on a warm-up lap and spun his Audi R10 TDi into the barriers. The Scott managed to get the deranged car back to the pits where the Audi crew set to repair the car. “I lost control of the Audi...

The say a picture is worth a thousand words but this one is almost beyond value, you could not buy these cars at any price, they are truly constructed of Unobtainium.  Ferrari 330 LMB (one of only four built) leads Ferrari 250 GT SWB "Breadvan", Ferrari 250 GTO and the poor relation a Jaguar E type "lowdrag coupe""............this is the contents of the vault of an automotive Fort Knox and the treasures are being raced! With the period setting in a glorious location, the serious competition...

You might have heard people say that Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. It may well be, but that certainly doesn't mean that you can't find cool stuff for free in Tokyo. For example, how about the chance to see F1 and Super GT race cars performing demo runs in addition to seeing some of the Japan's most historic race cars? That is just the sort of things that visitors to the 2008 Motorsport Japan Festival could see over the weekend. This was the third MSJ event...

Kiwi drifters have really been making splashes on the international scene lately with Adam Richards competing in the EDC , JT Wharerau driving in Formula D, as well as all the wild car builds coming out of the country, including Mad Mike's new RX7 which will also be appearing at the Long Beach Red Bull event. The most recent round of the Stil Vodka NZ Drift Series was held at the Powerbuilt Tools Raceway in Ruapuna and it marked the competition of debut of a few new vehicles. Thanks to...

The Jewel in the American Le Mans Series crown takes place this weekend at Atlanta, Georgia. ‘Petit Le Mans’ is a 10 hour endurance event at the Road Atlanta circuit. Its a unique event for the ALMS, so there are quite a few extra entries. With the Credit Crunch having a major impact in the USA, many see this event could be the peak of competition for a while. But back to this event. Peugeot return to the States to battle it out with Audi in the Prototype ‘P1’ class....

Okay, truth be told, they’re almost 36 inches in diameter, far exceeding in size anything you’ll see outside of a SEMA booth, but when it comes to ancient wheeled vehicle history, you can’t go much further back than these bronze chariot wheels that Bonhams intends to auction off at their next antiquities sale October 15 at the New Bond Street saleroom in London. According to the Bonhams press release: Bonhams is selling a set of chariot wheels that last rolled around an...

I have been quite busy working on new Speedhunters stories and preparing for my trip to this weekend's Motorsport Japan Festival in Odaiba, but before I move on to that stuff, I wanted to take one last look at last Friday's I Heart Honda!! event at Tsukuba Circuit. Judging by the feedback I have been reading on these posts, it appears that you guys are also down to see more of the hundreds of cool Hondas that converged on Tsukuba for the event. As seen in the opening photo, there was a...

By Rob Einaudi Editor-in-Chief So if you're a Mopar Or No Car kind of guy and are sick of high gas prices, what do you do? You build an electric Duster. Bruce bought this A-body back in 2006. It had a fresh 360 but otherwise was pretty rough. Over the course of two years he did a resto-mod on the car, which included body work, new paint, and even digital gauges and an RFID keyless ignition system. But Bruce didn't stop there. With gas prices on the rise, he was already researching...

Eddie’s R/W/B Hornet SC/360 As Hurricane Ike pounded Texas and we started hearing the reports of damage to the Houston area, our thoughts turned to Eddie Stakes of planethoustonAMX.com, a friend of ours both here on the blog and in our magazines. Fortunately, Eddie and his family survived Ike with nary a scratch, as he recently informed us: Our electricity came on at 5:21pm this afternoon, and after 12 days, quite a ride. There are 1 in 4 Houstonians without power with Centerpoint still...

Last week we told you about Mitsubishi UK's Evo X-based touring car contender that was being prepped for the Britcar Championship. Well, it made its racing debut at the Silverstone 24-hour enduro over the weekend, and by all accounts it survived its baptism of fire with flying colours. Final standings put the Evolution X at 25th place outright and fifth in class, not bad considering that the team only managed five laps before the race commenced, with one of those laps seeing the engine bay...
