More retro/pinup girl scenes from the Mooneyes Show... I like these selections better than the last. This selection of photos is more natural I suppose; these are pics of some of the "normal girls" who dressed up to go to the show with their...(read more)

The last time D1GP held an event at Tsukuba Circuit was way back in 2005. I don't know the exact reason for dropping Tsukuba from the schedule, but I'm assuming that D1 outgrew the relatively small facilities there. This year though, D1 announced it would be returning to Tsukuba not with D1GP, but with D1 Street Legal. I remember reading about this event back in January and thinking about how far away it was. Well now the event is in the books and I can't believe it's already...

I hope you all had a great weekend, because I know I sure did. It started getting colder in Southern California this week, and it even rained a couple times; soon it might be time to pack away our shorts and summer gear for the winter. Even though I know...(read more)

It seems like things have been running non-stop for me over the past two weeks. First there was the Nismo Festival, followed by the Yokohama Hot Rod and Custom Car Show and the Rev Speed Tsukuba Super Battle, and finally today the D1 Street Legal season finale, also held at Tsukuba Circuit. Unlike last Wednesday when the weather cleared up just in time for the time attack, today's conditions were solidly cold, rainy, and dark. As nice as it would have been to stay at home where it's...

I'm sure you have all seen Antonio's "Lifestyle" features from the various events over the past months. I always enjoy those posts as they do a good job of "bringing the event to life" and I think a lot of readers agree with me. Now it's time for me to try my hand at it. Yesterday at the Rev Speed Tsukuba Super Battle, I spent some time in the paddock documenting the activity going on throughout the day. Unlike a multi-day event like say D1GP, the Rev Speed event has a ton of action...

Alright now, it's time to start settling in for a closer look at the 2008 Rev Speed Tsukuba Super Battle. I know you guys are anxious to see the results, so that's where I'll start. As I stated before, the previous night's rain left the track we and made the morning sessions useless for trying to set a fast time. A lot of the teams didn't even start running until the later part of the day. By about 10am or so, the track was drying up and the cars were finally able to push it...

I just got back spending the day at the Rev Speed Tsukuba Super Battle, and as expected, I am tired and very hungry. Before I head out to refill my stomach, I wanted to post a few quick shots of today's action. Last night it was pouring rain here in Tsukuba, so I was worried that this year's Rev Speed event would be a soggy one. The weather gods must be time attack fans though, because this morning there was nothing but a little fog that gave way to a rather warm and pleasant...

I feel kind of strange right now. One part of me is focused tomorrow's Rev Speed Time Attack at Tsukuba Circuit, but the other part of me is still in "hot rod mode" in the wake of Sunday's Yokohama Hot Rod and Custom Car Show. This kind of variety is what I love about cars. Anyways, here's another batch of photos from this weekend's show. The car above is the '57 Chevy Gasser built by Jimmy Shine of SoCal Speed Shop. You probably read about him in Rod's features back in...

Yokohama is one of the epicenters of Japan's hot rodding and custom car scene, and there is no event bigger than the Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod and Custom Car Show which has been held annually for 17 years. The 2008 edition of the show was held on Sunday and I headed to Yokohama to have a look. I sort of a Mooneyes fanboy, so I had been anxiously awaiting this one for while. As you can see by the photo, the show is one of the coolest, and most unique car events in Japan. Yes, that guy is...

Right now might be the off-season as far as most automotive activity goes, but here in Japan things couldn't be busier. Tomorrow I'll be heading out to Yokohama to have a look at the much-anticipated Mooneyes Hot Rod and Custom Car Show, and right after that it'll be time to prepare for Wednesday's big Rev Speed time attack at Tsukuba Circuit. Before we move on to the stuff though, I have a few more photos I wanted to share from last weekend's Nismo Festival....(read more)

For a Festive recipe take a bunch of fans/enthusiasts/petrolheads (delete as necessary), mix some beer and see what happens. After the squabble about who pays for the liquor subsides, it is common for a rowdy discussion to ensue on the merits of drivers...(read more)

Like Rod said in his December editorial, our bombardment of Nissan features may be winding down but we still have some more cool Nissan stuff to post. For example, more photos from last weekend's Nismo Festival at Fuji Speedway. I couldn't help trying include Mt. Fuji in some of my shots from the event, all it takes is one look at the mountain on a clear day and you will know why it's such an iconic symbol in Japan. Of course the historic 510 and S30Z rally cars in this photo are...
