[Trigami-Review]

So the reports about the death of SEMA had been greatly exaggerated. We hope y’all enjoyed our coverage, because we had one hell of a time posting it. Personally, it was awesome to be back in a little room typing, swearing, and laughing with my Seattle crew, and getting to watch them sing along with the with the balloon artist/guitar player/one-man-band at Terrible’s was just brilliant. SEMA is a wonderful reminder of why we bust our knuckles covering cars and car culture, and I...

The Lamborghini is an interesting case. You’re so mesmerized by its, um, exoticness, that you rarely take a moment to contemplate its 45-plus-year history. Or who really owns it. Which makes it a good jumping-off point for the Hemmings Six Degrees of Automotive Separation Challenge.
This week’s challenge is of the fox-and-hound type, in which the first person to comment suggests a “fox” to connect in six degrees or less to the above “hound.” Whoever solves...

Best of Show, the award for “outstanding achievement in design,” went to this incredible Ring Brothers ‘64 Fairlane in the BASF booth. The car is powered by a Roush 427, rolls on Forgeline 3-piece wheels, and sports a carbon fiber hood, front and rear bumpers, side air intakes and deck lid spoilers. This was one of the hardest cars to photograph cause it was always mobbed. More pics and a quick video after the jump!

Behold, what has been described as the holy grail for Datsun maniacs, the OS Giken TC24-B1! Imagine the sheer mad scientist insanity that must have flowed through Osamu Okazaki’s brain in order for him to conjure up an entire bolt-on twin-cam head, complete with valvetrain, for the Nissan L-series motor.
According to the OS Giken rep [...]

It’s common knowledge that the Lotus Elise is just way, way, too heavy, so the dudes at Seibon got all Biggest Loser on this one and did the body completely in carbon. I love the way they mounted the mirrors up on the fenders. More pics after the jump.

OK, so the back tire isn’t skinny, but the rest of the bike sure is. It was parked in the K&N booth, and while there wasn’t any literature on it, I’m assuming that the motor is probably around 883 cubic inches, like a Harley Sportster. It’s awesome how the builders put the gas tank under the seat, and the hyper-thin spokes on the wheels really emphasize the narrow profile of the bike. It looks like it weighs, like, ten pounds, and the massive rubber on the back will...

While Jen, Rob, Ryan and I were at dinner last night, we started talking about which ride we would keep if we could take any ride at SEMA. And while I’d be happy to have a 599 or a ZR1 in my garage, I was completely blown away by Legendary Motor Company’s stunning Super Cuda. It’s heart is a twin turbo Viper engine that’s making 1500 horsepower, and it’s been built to handle like a proper supercar. I loved how clean the interior was, and the carbon fiber floors...

I was in the Las Vegas Convention Center very early this morning wandering the halls to try and find undiscovered treasures hidden within the excesses of SEMA. Take a look at this one, a Lexus LX 570 competing in the SCORE Stock Full Class, piloted by Joe Bacal who is a Cancer Survivor sitting at the KC HiLiGHTS Booth. Read more after the jump!

In my RSS reader, I have a number of blogs for automotive news, a number of blogs for general automotive interest, and I have several blogs for automotive inspiration. David Black’s Vintage Sports Car Review is one of the latter, and he recently got the gears in my skull turnin’ with the photos he posted of the Sadler Mk. 1, which, according to Harold Pace in “Vintage American Road Racing Cars, 1950-1969,” was the first effort by Canadian Bill Sadler to build his own...

Yesterday we showed you some genuine nostalgics from Subaru and Honda. Toyota has been known to bring old school cars to SEMA in the past, but this year they cooked up a bunch of new cars with old school flavor.

Of the gaudy 2010 Camaros on the show floor at SEMA–and there’s more than a few–this is one whose appearance I don’t mind so much. I like the smoothed-over look of it, and the minimal exterior flash. However, I’m still on the fence about the matchy-matchy wheels, which I’m guessing were kind of the entire point of the build (it was in the Savini Wheels booth, after all). I dunno, do these work for a new Camaro? Check out the video below the jump.

Yannick Sire’s project “Priapism” is beyond insane. Two 350s yoked together with a GTO driveline coupling. Three radiators, two of them angled out from the firewall like an Indy car. Two giant banks of header pipes. Completely hand-fabricated body and chrome-moly tube chassis. The craziest part of it all? He can drive it on the street. Priprism (look it up; it’s funny) is sitting in the DynoJet booth at SEMA bolted up to their hub dyno, but the guys there tell me that it...

While wandering the Tire and Wheel area at SEMA, I found this interesting technology, developed for the military, that’s set to expand into more widespread everyday applications in the very near future. It’s a tire solution that was developed to prevent typical pneumatic tire failures caused by punctures, ballistics, or road conditions. This tire replacement has been in testing on the military’s HMMWV “Humvee” tactical vehicles–it’s meant to be a direct replacement for...

Normally, I’m not a huge fan of slammed cars or trucks, but this Suburban is different. I found this creation over at the Goin’ Hard Wheel booth along with another cool ride I’ll talk about soon. See more…
The 1969 thru 1972 Suburban was produced as an answer to the International Travelall and the Jeep Wagoneer, but with one unique feature: It came with only 3 doors. As odd as that sounds, previous Surburbans were only 2 door Sedan Delivery vehicles with interiors and windows. When was...
